Stayed for two nights and we all wish it could have been SO much longer! The accommodation was extremely tidy - we had a chalet with 4 x beds and all the necessary accompaniments. It was a quiet time and most bungalows and chalets unoccupied which made for a very relaxing experience. The entire camp was well kept although the staff could be more engaged. The restaurant has great views and hippos are the only sounds disturbing the dinner. The menu was good but too many items were unavailable. Personally, having a barbeque at your chalet and drinking in the South African bush with all its smells and sounds at night is way better!!
Absolutely one of the great camps in the beautiful Kruger!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- On the banks of the Pioneer Dam in the Kruger National Park, lies it's best kept secret. Named after the mopane veld that surrounds the camp, Mopani Rest Camp nestles amongst the Mopani tree covered koppies. A signature feature is the huge gnarled old baobab tree in the heart of the camp. The vegetation inside the camp is left as found in the wild, adding to the unique atmosphere of the camp. ... more less
