“Bush Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

Six couples from our family had booked the entire lodge. The friendly staff were there to welcome us with drinks and a dance. They got to know us personally and remembered our names. The rooms were beautifuly furnished with a viewing deck. The only problem was the outdoor shower which is really cold to use in winter. Hearing the wild animals in the night is really amazing. Meals were deliciously prepared. Having no contact with the outside world is the best way to relax and unwind. Viewing the animals and birds during the game drives was awesome and gaining knowledge from our wonderful safari guides Nicolos and Andrew. We looked forward to the hot tea and rusks during the cold morning drives. What a pleasant surprise was the bush breakfast. In the heart of the bush a buffet breakfast with tables, chairs and cutlery was laid. How welcoming the breakfast was after the three hour drive. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making it a memorable stay.

We stayed in hoyo hoyo in early may 2014. My first experience is how friendly and welcoming the staff are. After a very long car ride, skipping breakfast and lunch, we arrived in hoyo hoyo 3pm in the afternoon. We arrived tired and super hungry. We were greeted with warm towel to wash away the tiredness, we asked for some bread to cure our hunger, but what came out was hot pizza straight from oven, words can't describe how thankful we were.

The food there was amazing, better than what you can get in any other 4-5 star hotels. We often wonder how do they get such high quality/fresh ingredients in the middle of a national park. Even better, they feed you 5-6 times a day, you will not go hungry while you stay in hoyo hoyo.

The room was warm, intimate. Lack of reception means there was no wifi, not even telephone. We had to use walkie talky to communicate with the reception. At first it was strange without any means of communication, but after a while you will immerse yourself within the nature surrounding you. I promise you will not miss the internet at all.

The lodge offer 2 game drives a day and a safari walk. The driver was knowledgeable and during our 4 nights stay we seen the big 5s plus many more.

Thanks to all the staff members that gave us this amazing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in hoyo hoyo and we will definitely come back.

We stayed at Hoyo Hoyo in may 2014. Topnotch. In the middle of a private game reserve. It certainly isn't the cheapest lodge but we found it to be worth every rand.
The pleasure of not having to worry about your meals, two game drives a day and an excellent and friendly staff made it a perfect three days.

We had Oscar as our safari guide and he knows his way in the area. He can track anything and the big 5 was no problem. Ofcourse there's always 'the luck factor' but we saw many animals and its just a fun and friendly guy. Ralph picked up detailed route map for us. The navigation isn't always dead on in Kruger.

Be sure to book a thursday within your stay, im not going to tell you why but expect a nice surprise coming back after the evening game drive.

To all staff members, thank you for a wonderful stay: Mooi, Oscar, Twice, Ralph, Roger and Give&Take, we'll never forget!!

We spent one month in South Africa, and BY FAR Hoyo Hoyo is the most memorable lodge we stayed at. The atmosphere was amazing, relaxing, hospitable. Our kids had the time of their lives seeing the big 5 (yes, all of them), dancing and singing with the staff, and enjoying the wonderful food. There is really no time to rest--the schedule is very full, but it doesn't really matter, you get to eat constantly, go on many drives (two a day) where we saw all kinds of animals unique to Africa, enjoy the waterhole located right across from the dining area, and much more.

We looked for the perfect lodge (full board) for more than a month and we fouuund it.
We stayed 3 nights at the hoyo hoyo safari lodge and we seriously over liked it.
6 game drives with amazing ranger were we saw a lot of animals ( a lion from 2 metres) and as its a concession the drivers can do off roads Which is not allowed in the kruger.
Their cook is a chef, all the meal were delicious and tasty.
The service is lovely and a free pick up from the houedpuit airport is free.
The room are clean and are tipically tsonga designed (one of the kruger cultures) you also have a private balcony which is front of the bush
6 rooms in the lodge so u feel at home
