Here is a superb realistically priced 5 star Safari Lodge. All expected Lodge amenities were available and the Rangers did a superb job in getting us to sightings of the BIG Five, as we all know the dependence on this is a little bit of luck as well. Leopard and Lion sightings were great, it was mating time (the animals must have thought it was Christmas).
The Chef Attie really went out of his way to do TASTY meals, although they were top quality, they had individual taste and were not the run of the mill cooked meals.
This was our second visit after 5 years and to our surprise we were welcomed back by Mamsie who even new which chalet we had stayed in the last visit, superb. Patience in the dining room also new we had been there and she gave us, as well as other guests absolutely excellent service. Louis the General Manager also made the point of seeing us and making sure we were comfortable and happy. THIS KIND OF SERVICE IS RARELY EXPERIENCED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
Well done for making this memorable. The staff did not know it was our anniversary, and all of this made it a memorable one.
THANKS!!!
Mike Coen

Room Tip: All rooms have river front views of the bush

We stayed here for 3 nights in May (sorry for the late writeup!).
The staff and accomodation were excellent and the food was amazing, be prepared to put on half a stone in 3 days!.
We were taken on 5 safaris in total (2 morning and 3 afternoon). The rangers were brilliant, there were only 4 people in our jeep (including ourselves). We seen the big 5 which were amazing. After we had seen them our ranger took us on an excursion for our last safari where we were driving through a herd of 60 elephants crossing the road. Realxing on the decking in your lodge watching wild animal drinking and playing was breathtaking, we even had baboon wars!
My partner organised a private dinner on our balcony and proposed, it could not have been in a more perfect location. Thanks to everyone involved for making this a holiday of a lifetime.
I often see reviews about people complaining about wifi, well to me if you are in this location and want to go online then your totally spoiling your trip!

We stayed at Jock Safari Lodge for a week in August 2014. The level of care and hospitality offered by all of its staff is exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are extremely friendly. The food was out of this world and I still miss high tea. Be prepared to put on weight! We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and a private dinner outside our lodge was arranged for us. Eating whilst listening to the sounds of the bush was a unique experience and one I will not forget. The lodge was extremely comfortable and you can view game from the day bed outside the lodge. We went on two game drives a day and these were an exhilarating experience. We were guided by the fantastic Ben. Every drive was different and we saw some amazing sights including lions on a kill. What I saw exceeded my expectations. The rangers stay in touch by radio and driving to a sighting is an exciting experience. Their skills are awe inspiring; tracking lions and spotting animals we couldn't even see with binoculars! Jock have a concession in Kruger Park so you are guaranteed some incredible viewing without loads of other cars. It was clear that the guests' experience was important to the staff at Jock. We were regularly asked how our day had been and the manager often circulated to chat with us. We absolutely loved out time at Jock and would love to return one day.

Jocks is in a perfect private spot inside Kruger with access to its own concession ( lots of land where only it's jeeps can roam )
Without wanting to ruin any surprises the safari starts at the airport so have your camera ready
The highlight of this place is definitely the rangers who take you out on the two daily drives. A word of caution it is really cold first thing in the morning and at night at this time of year so hat gloves and coat are required. The wildlife sightings are fantastic!
Food is plentiful with the chance to sample local dishes and game
Rooms are a good size comfortable but a little basic which in a strange way adds to the bush experience. Rooms 1 to 5 have the best view
Drinking a glass of wine watching a herd of elephants walking past the lodges deck became a regular afternoon pastime

Location, Rangers, Game Drives, Staff, Service, Facilities all excellent. This was by far the best Safari we have done and being located within the Kruger itself, it has to be the 'Go To' lodge to experience the Kruger at it's best.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the situation of the 12 Lodges is second-to-none.

The only area The Jock falls down on is it's rooms which, internally, are a little tired and in need of a refresh. Electrical appliances (Hairdryer broken, Fridge way too noisy and exposed wires on the kettle) needed checking/fixing. In short, the brochure pictures do show the rooms at their best, but ours, internally, was a little past it's 'sell-by'.

Issues that were reported were remedied immediately, with a smile, but in the end too many little niggles to keep reporting. On the basis of it's rooms, in our opinion, it's really a 4.5 star, not the 5 it's aiming for.

That said, would we go again? Yes ! The few 'Downs' were not enough to mar the 'Ups' of the people, service and location.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are different in layout and have great views. Just report any issues asap and they...

Family of five, 2 rooms, which are really huts with pools. Regularly fell asleep after the morning game drive and once woke up with a baboon sat on my back eating nougat. the most surreal expirience. Saw elephants walking up the dry river bed that runs along the back of the hotel that the rooms balcony over looked. very good service. But you do pay for it.

Brilliant holiday.
