“Outstanding Safari Hotel”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Our family had a wonderful visit to Lion Sands. The location of the lodge and guest cabins on the Sabi River is gorgeous. The food, service and accommodations were excellent. We all loved our the ranger and tracker who toured us through the bush. The natural beauty and wildlife viewing was outstanding.

Stayed 2 nights at Tinga Lodge. One of the best Safari lodge experience. It is very well located just 5 mins from Skuuzuza air strip but you do not feel this. There is hardly any airplane noise. It looks and feel like a big property but there are only 10 to 12 rooms so max you will ever see would be 24 to 26 guest so very intimate. Very helpful staff. No wifi in rooms.

We were lucky enough to spend 4 days, 3 nights at Lion Sands, Narina Lodge in February. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left everything was exceptional and extraordinary.By far the best vacation we ever took.

Narina and Tinga, Narina's sister lodge, are both located about a 10 minutes drive from Kruger's entrance. On our short 10 minute drive we managed to see a giraffe and an elephant before arriving at Narina.

Our reception at Narina was FANTASTIC! We were offered cool washcloths and welcoming drinks and were introduced to staff before being told some basics about safety in Kruger and being lead to our villas (right out of African Architecture Digest).

The villas are stunning. They are large and beautiful with incredible views of the river. There is a beautiful soaking tub a double indoor shower and an outdoor shower too. All with beautiful views of the river. There is a small plunge pool and deck where guests can choose to rest and enjoy the beauty of the river and the animals while resting in between drives.

We had the same Guide/Tracker and Driver/Tracker each day which was great. Lucas and Archie make for a phenomenal team. Lucas is amazing to watch as he tracks the animals and we later learned that he is one of four Master Trackers of Leopards (if I'm not mistaken). Both are at one with the animals they track.

On our first outing we saw all Big 5, were "charged" by a young, male elephant who was in the beginning stage of Musth. Each drive at 5:30 am and 4 pm brought us so many wonderful animal encounters. We all learned so much about animal behavior and life in the bush.

Dining at Narina was fantastic.

We enjoyed our short time so much that we are planning a return visit for 2015.

Room Tip: We were given a villa next to the main lodge due to a sport injury I had. All the villas are positi...

We spent two nights at the Narina Lodge. It was beautiful! The facilities and services were excellent. The food was outstanding (best duck) and our ranger, Jonah, was wonderful. We saw the big five and had a wonderful experience. I recommend Lion Sands. We were there May 12-14.

Totally exception and memorable experience. On the banks of the sabi river, dead quiet at night only the sounds of the wild animals and gushing river. this is the way you want to experience the Kurger. Top class establishment with exceptional sightings on game drives.

What an amazing experience, scary at first but our fears were soon put to rest with the professionalism and knowledge of our tracker Lucas and our Ranger Jono, you guys were excellent! Our room was beautiful, our plunge pool refreshing and the view of the Sabie River with the hipos playing was priceless. The chef was amazing, the food was excellent, especially the breakfast mushrooms!! Thanks Benik! A big thank you to Sven for setting up a surprising birthday breakfast on the river bank...An excellent memory!! Thank you Jono for sharing your love of nature with us!

Room Tip: Ensure you rent a room with a plunge pool!

A wonderful luxurious resort. The rooms were spacious, well laid out and immaculately clean over looking the Sabi River. The restaurant /bar service was excellent , the food was wholesome, varied and delicious all over seen by the warm, welcoming Loudrey. Jason & Emanuel our safari guides were amazing, their vast knowledge and respect for the animals and this beautiful environment was inspiring to say the least. We enjoyed 2 safari drives per day , 6am - 9am and 4pm-7pm, where to our great delight saw THE BIG 5 plus lots and lots more... they went to such great lengths to insure we saw the shy, publicity shunning leopard. We enjoyed the am/pm breaks when we stopped off in the bush to enjoy hot chocolate /tea/coffee in the am and a selection of soft drinks, wine, beer in the evenings to be driven back to the lodge under the stars for dinner. We really can't say enough about this place! and look forward already to going back!

Room Tip: Rooms are large, with a large sofa that may be extended to form a bed... we took 2 rooms when really...
