“Lukimbi (+ sister-lodge Idube) is a MUST if you come to Krüger nat. parc!”
Reviewed 11 September 2011

We spent 2 days at Idube and 2 days at Lukimbi. Both lodges are fantastic. Idube has the best game view and Lukimbi the best location for elephants and rhinos and because of the close river also for hippos and crocos!

In both lodges we had great ranger and tracker and in both lodges we got wonderful meals and a very special and individual service! Both teams are very nice and smiling all day!

Our stay at Lukimbi and Idube was definitively one of the most impressive we ever had!

I suggest to stay first 2 nights at Lukimbi and then move to Idube!

Having travelled extensively to Game Lodges in Africa, I have never had such an incredible experience as I had recently at Lukimbi Safari Lodge. Sean and Shelley, the Managers and all the staff, were so humble in their professionalsm. On arriving, a few kilometers from the Lodge, we spotted a magnificent lioness with two tiny cubs. From the Leopard silently sneeking through the Lodge at night, the Elephants digging for water in the dry river bed beneath my luxurious Suite, to the "simply", gourmet cuisine, I cannot rate this very special peace of paradise more highly. What a priviege it was to be so spoilt!

The Lodge is beautiful. The food gourmet. We were met upon arrival with warm cloths with citronella on them and before and after each game ride. The staff was just lovely, helpful and friendly. The rangers were great, knowledgeable and helpful. After the morning ride we were served cocoa and biscuits (winter when we were there) and warm blankets were on the seats of the safari vehicle. After the evening ride we were served drinks out on the bush while observing the beautiful African sunset. Our hut was simply amazing. We had a beautiful bed area, living room area and covered balcony. The bathroom was gorgeous- large tub with glass windows behind it so one could soak and observe nature at the same time. Upon arrival we were served lunch on the balcony and watched a herd of elephants saunter by! It was an experience never to be forgotten. I can't recommend this lodge enough. We hated to leave.

I traveled to Lukimbi with a friend in June.
Overall the experience was fantastic. The staff were excellent from the get go, due to some unforeseen circumstances we were going to be late and we were called by the friendly staff about 2 or 3 time just to check up on our progress and that we were travelling safe. On arrival we were welcomed and felt right at home even if we missed check in time by 3 hours.

The rooms were great and the view from our suite was fantastic, during the day we had a multitude of animals right in front of our room.

The game drives were great and having been to plenty of reserves around the country it was truly a genuine Kruger experience, we didn't see any other vehicle on any of our drives and enjoyed our sightings all to ourselves and didn't have to move for other vehicles to get better views or move out of the sighting to give other vehicles a view. Our Ranger Danie was excellent and his knowledge and passion really shone through as did his determination to give us the best possible sightings, I was really impressed that even with no guests that the other rangers hopped into vehicles and helped Danie track some Lions.. We saw 4 of the big 5 and I must say it really was an authentic experience. We saw a big male Lion roaring which was awesome.

The food was also excellent and have never had such tender venison meat in my life.

Overall had an awesome time

My husband and I stayed at Lukimbi Safari Lodge in December 2010 and enjoyed every minute. Game drives are the focus of a trip to a safari lodge and these were amazing. You are assigned a guide and tracker for your drives. Ours were both excellent and very friendly. You cannot believe how close you can get to elephants, lions and giraffes. Our guide, Alfred, was so knowledgeable often enhancing each drive with long explanations of the animals' behaviors and pointing out various flowers and birds in addition to the animals. We were told that December was not a great time to visit as animals may be scarce but we saw elephants, giraffes, lions and zebras multiple times during our four drives. Seeing the many babies was wonderful. Our one walk allowed us to watch hippos in the water for almost an hour.

The lodge itself is beautiful and well maintained. The decor in the lodge is to be admired filled with African treasures. Our room was large and also well decorated. We learned that each room was individually decorated. The rooms have many windows to admire the park views and the animals wandering by.

The attention to detail from the game drives to the day's schedule is highly evident. Safety was also an important part of our visit and stressed by the employees. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is very good with a lot of variety and you are well fed. We would highly recommend Lukimbi to all travelers seeking an outstanding safari experience.

Absolutely fabulous. We spent a wonderful time there and got the incredible impression to visit the Garden of Eden. The suites are in separate wooden buildings, surrounding the river. Luxury combined with unspoilt nature ...

I stayed at Lukimbi 2 nights and made 4 trips. Everything was extremely well organized. I had excellent guides, who really took care and explained a lot.
In total I took more than 1000 pics. I was lucky to see the Big Five, nearby Big Seven.
The location itself is stylish and upper class and you can enjoy and relax.
