We stayed for 2 nights and had a mixed experience. The view is obviously outstanding and the whole area is very picturesque. The camp is having some renovations done which is much needed and overdue. The restaurant has a limited menu. The rondevaals are in dire need of a complete overhaul as they are very tired looking, ours didn't even have hot water. Try to get one on the perimeter though as most have some kind of a river view even if the website doesn't expressly say so.

Only stayed on night here in NG2U Bungalo, it was adequate for what we required one night. It was clean.Would have been better if there had been a kettle and cups in the room so you could make coffe / tea. The campsite as a whole was good and you are sure to see hippo's. The camp would benefit from a pool, for such a large camp couldn't understand why it didn't have one.? We booked for the Sunset Walk and the Evening drive which were both excellent. guides very informative. On both the walk and the drive saw wildlife, hippo's, kudu, zebra, rhino, etc etc. Campsite is overlooking Olifants River which is beautiful. Only gave average rating due to lack of pool.

Typical SANPARK rest camp, i.e. rustic and well priced. The camp is located on a mountain and has a great view on the river. The chalets have braai (barbecue) facility, but there are no dishes there (available for 20 Rands at reception), als braai-wood to be purchased in the camp shop. The campshop is very well equipped (major improvements to 2 years ago). Rooms simple but clean (and 100% ok for the price). recommend to select a perwinkle chalet, this means a better view for a little uplift)...

We stayed there three nights and we had a lot of pleasure driving around, with a lot of game everywhere. Unfortunately, we are not self-catering people and it was the last week of the restaurant, before the take over by Mugg and Bean. Sad dinners, as almost everything in the menu was not available. But the worse was Satara Rest Camp, as the restaurant was closed and we had just some junk food prepared for "the day visitors"
This needs to improve if they want to keep foreign (and local) visitors happy!

A consolation: Mopane restaurant was great, good food and friendly staff in a beautiful site.

Olifants camp is located high above the Olifants River meandering below. The camp itself is made up mostly of practical and clean self contained bungalows. There's a patio to enjoy breakfast, dinner and a sundowner as you listen to the sounds of the hippos from the river. The bungalows come equipped with a large fridge, private barbecue and air conditioning. The location of Olifants is its best asset, the drives from here pass through a diverse range of geography and wildlife habitat. To the north the country is wooded and undulating as you drive the circuit to Letaba, to the south is flatter open range. Animals abound, elephant, hippo, buck, zebra, kudu, giraffe, rhinoceros, buffalo and hyena. Location, location, location.

We stayed in one of the bungalows with a river view, highly recommended. The built in patio is a nice feature. We had dinner on the patio with the sound of hippos in the background a very unique and memorable experience. The bungalows are a good value. The viewpoint by the restaurant is first rate. The restaurant food is ok, not great..

There was almost no need to explore out of the camp, as almost everything was seen from one's verandah, eagles, vultures rode the wind currents at eye level, while the river below was teaming with all sorts of game, from the cliff top vantage one views an elephant trial that has been used for thousands of years, part of the elephant migratory path is in the valley below you.
You may view a swathe of African bush veld for miles in a 180deg sweep.

Room Tip: Bungalow 9 is first prize - that lands you right in the pound seats
