“Best camp”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

We stayed two nights in olifants camp and it was the best stay in the kruger. We were booked in a hut that only provided beds, you have to use the communal kitchens. All those huts are being renovated. We were given a nice renovated bungalow. The only camp that had a paper that asked to report any faulty equipment in accommodation.
The staff very friendly. The shop fantastic, very stocked. The restaurant had limited food choices as they are going to be renovated. But even with that very good and friendly staff.
We booked for a sunset drive and it was excellent. I really recommend that.
We again had to do laundry. The laundry room was great. They had two new washing machines and two new dryers with staff to help you and look after the new machines.

We stayed at three different places in Kruger and this was the best. It's located in the middle of the park allowing you to travel to different directions easily. You can have your dinner with a breathtaking view just over the river accompanied by the sounds of hippos. Clean room & bathroom, affordable price. You can even have a room facing the river. I definitely recommend this rest camp. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river.

Olifants Rest Camp, situated high above the Olifants River, has probably the most spectacular view of the Kruger National Park's camps. The chalet was newly renovated and comfortable (major renovations are taking place in various parts of the camp). The restaurant food was basic, but good. Restaurant staff was friendly though a bit too relaxed in executing their jobs.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a mixed experience. The view is obviously outstanding and the whole area is very picturesque. The camp is having some renovations done which is much needed and overdue. The restaurant has a limited menu. The rondevaals are in dire need of a complete overhaul as they are very tired looking, ours didn't even have hot water. Try to get one on the perimeter though as most have some kind of a river view even if the website doesn't expressly say so.

Only stayed on night here in NG2U Bungalo, it was adequate for what we required one night. It was clean.Would have been better if there had been a kettle and cups in the room so you could make coffe / tea. The campsite as a whole was good and you are sure to see hippo's. The camp would benefit from a pool, for such a large camp couldn't understand why it didn't have one.? We booked for the Sunset Walk and the Evening drive which were both excellent. guides very informative. On both the walk and the drive saw wildlife, hippo's, kudu, zebra, rhino, etc etc. Campsite is overlooking Olifants River which is beautiful. Only gave average rating due to lack of pool.

Typical SANPARK rest camp, i.e. rustic and well priced. The camp is located on a mountain and has a great view on the river. The chalets have braai (barbecue) facility, but there are no dishes there (available for 20 Rands at reception), als braai-wood to be purchased in the camp shop. The campshop is very well equipped (major improvements to 2 years ago). Rooms simple but clean (and 100% ok for the price). recommend to select a perwinkle chalet, this means a better view for a little uplift)...

We stayed there three nights and we had a lot of pleasure driving around, with a lot of game everywhere. Unfortunately, we are not self-catering people and it was the last week of the restaurant, before the take over by Mugg and Bean. Sad dinners, as almost everything in the menu was not available. But the worse was Satara Rest Camp, as the restaurant was closed and we had just some junk food prepared for "the day visitors"
This needs to improve if they want to keep foreign (and local) visitors happy!

A consolation: Mopane restaurant was great, good food and friendly staff in a beautiful site.
