We took this tour in January 2010; the main problem is that a lot of the scenery around Lake Havasu just isn't that pretty. But the staff was knowledgeable and quite nice; our problem was not being able to hear a good bit of the historical explanation and not being able to notify the speaker since he was also upstairs steering the boat. Next time I'd ask in advance how to alert him if this problem persists, because it would have been interesting to hear it all.
This boat had the nicest bathroom of any tour boat I've ever been on!
We paid extra for better seating, thinking that would guarantee a front-row seat. It didn't, although we had more comfortable chairs than bench seats. However, we ended up spending a lot of the time out back in the open air, where we could hear better although we couldn't see what was in front of us. So I wouldn't pay for the upgraded seating unless you are guaranteed the very front seats or if you really need the more comfortable, individual seats.
The staff on this boat was very nice as well as knowledgeable; we did have trouble hearing the history guide (who was also the captain) and didn't know how to reach him to let him know.
