Parts of the hotel were dirty and smelled bad. We looked closely for bedbugs. Great view if the balloon fest. We hear that this hotel is being torn down and it seems that it is about time. Some of our friends checked out and moved elsewhere.

Cheap but a good night's sleep. Pretty quiet in December. Probably worth it to spend a little more and get the incredible sunrise at the Nautical Beachfront, but we didn't figure that out until our second night in town.

First, whomever put the washing machines on the 4th floor over the guest rooms must have been drunk or stupid: Try sleeping with the constant thumpthumpthump of an unbalanced load over your head. Second, sharing the hotel with a floor full of college kids on break is not fun - had we known, I'd have saved this hotel for the next trip. Third, the club may have been a quarter-mile away, but the music was easily heard in the room - not fun, and not conducive to sleep.

That said, finding the maid's hair on the bathroom sink doesn't speak highly of her attitude toward the job, and one wonders what other cleaning chores were left undone.

The hotel has potential and a good location, but apparently the management thinks that's enough. It isn't.

Room Tip: Insist on the pool side, not the side facing the road.

We had a great experience while staying @ the Island Inn. The room was clean and the staff was great! Staying on the island allowed us to "get away form the busy areas of town". The outdoor pool was a bonus! Beautifully landscaped and most of the time we were alone while sitting pool side. The grounds were well kept and parking areas vast! We would stay here again in the future! Only downside is the inn is outdated.

We stayed Thurs - Sun, Sept 26-29th. The price was very reasonable and we were a little worried with all the bad reviews, however, it was really a pretty nice place. I gave it a bit higher rating since you should really compare it with other hotels that charge lower rates.

There were probably only a dozen cars in the parking lot, so the place was very empty and quiet. We parked our boat trailer easily in the rear where they have spots painted for boats/trailers. It can be a chore finding a parking spot for a boat but that part was great. Our room was clean and quiet. All the amenities were fresh and operated properly so we were comfortable. It was hot during our visit but the A/C worked marvelously.

The desk person was quick and check in was fast and easy. We made the reservation through this web site and they already had our payment. They needed the credit card for any extras, but upon check out there were no "extras," so no issues there.

The only complaint would be that the beds were hard and my arms kept going to sleep, but a roll now and then and everything was fine.

All in all I'd recommend a stay at the Island Inn. It's on the island so it's close to site six boat launch, it's right next to the park, the channel and the shops at the bridge. We found it to be clean and had a great stay.

My husband and I took advantage of a Groupon deal and stayed at the Island Inn for two nights. Our experience was ok for what we paid.

The good:
- The staff is pretty amazing. Myra (spelling?) checked us in and was very nice, knowledgable and accommodating. She answered all of our questions and gave us great resources to plan our weekend festivities! She was really great. All of the staff throughout the weekend was pretty great.
- We were very excited to have been able to bring our dogs. The fee is a $10 flat rate per dog. There is a great dog park near by and tons do to with our dogs. We really loved that we could include them in this quick weekend getaway. The staff were all engaged and were animal lovers. There are grassy areas and plenty of places to walk our little guys.
- Location is great. It's on the island and close to everything. We had easy access to everything.
- Our intention on this trip was a nice, relaxing weekend getaway and the Island Inn provided that. When we were here it was quiet and relaxing.

The bad:
- The room stinks. Obviously, as a pet friendly inn some rooms have seen better days. We stayed with our pets all weekend and walked them tons but I believe others may have left their pets in the rooms and the carpets have paid the price. Unfortunately, this is a huge negative for me. I don't know if all rooms are pet friendly, but the one we were in definitely was and has been for years. This significantly impacted our stay.
- Cleanliness was not great. You get what you pay for. We walked in to a tidy room with everything in its place, but I felt dirty in the room which affected our ability to be completely comfortable.
- Little things matter. The shampoo bottle left for us was half empty. Obviously we got plenty when asked but still. The towels are small and a little ratty. There is no iron or ironing board. I was able to get an iron at the front desk but there was no ironing board. All calls, even local, are 25 cents. I'm sure everyone has a cell but still weird.

The obvious:
- The inn is outdated. Time and many many guests over the years have contributed to the condition of the rooms. I think they would do really well when the rooms are updated. It would solve the smell and cleanliness concerns...at least for awhile I guess.

Anyway, it's not a 5 star hotel so set your expectations accordingly. It was an ok experience for what we paid and have another weekend voucher that we will not be using. We are out the money we already paid for the second stay and we will gladly take the hit to not have to stay there again.

The carpet is sticky! The evening help is a zombie. I would rather stay at the hotel Jack Nicholson stayed in the Shining. Can you say bed bugs!!! We had a room with 2 doubles and asked to change to a room with a bigger bed. They said it would cost more. Mind you, the hotel was almost completely empty!
