“Absolute sublime heaven”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

We spent 3 days and 2 glorious nights at Zwahili - the staff, service, accomodations were all superb - definitely didn't want to leave.

The lack of the big five means that the game on the drives were less shy and we saw some amazing creatures really close to

Can't wait to return - Thank you everyone at Zwahili

Room Tip: we stayed in the main hotel but I suspect the individual lodges are possibly even nicer

Good location fairly close to the highway. Was only there one night but will return for a few nights. Service was superb and good attention to detail. Food was delicious. I had to leave early so they packed me a delicious breakfast for the road - most appreciated! Wonderful views and well appointed rooms.

Room Tip: Perhaps the suites are a better choice - a little more private and better views

Dear Liz

1 night is definitely too short so hopefully you will be back for a longer and more relaxing stay!

The little bit extra for the Safari Suites are worth it because of the privacy and views.

Thank you for writing the review and complimenting our food, the chefs do pride themselves on having very satisfied guests.

Warm Bushveld Regards

My wife's birthday and Valentines are consecutive days so what an opportunity to sample Zwahili's offerings for those 2 nights. We were made very welcome, staff were excellent, the dinners were sublime. Even without the big five the game drives were pleasant and other game were plentiful.

With overseas visitors in tow the usual Kruger and Madikwe or even Botswana Big 5 venues were too far away for a 2-nights period. Given proximity of Zwahili to Pretoria and the full board services offered at reasonable prices, including game drives and bush walks, the venue offered very good value for money albeit not big 5 country. Staff very friendly and helpful, food very good. Accommodation comfortable. Some additional individual sitting / relaxing areas at the restaurant / bar area overlooking the plains below would be nice because this is limited if the lodge is full. Only a noisy pool pump at times spoilt the overall silence at the pool area and a repetetive Michael Buble CD got us moving on... However, a lovely overall stay and good quality value for money.

Dear Rolf

There is so much more to learn about the bushveld which most people miss out on because they're always just chasing the big 5. We're very fortunate that our guides are so knowledgeable that they are able to make the game drives interesting and fun.

We will look into arranging for more private seating around the public areas.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for us and I hope you will visit us again in the future!

We were fortunate enough to enjoy the entire Lodge to ourselves (a lull period ahead of the Valentine's weekend full house).
Salamina's cuisine was nothing short of stunning in variety and presentation along with incomprable quality.
The service, care, and spa experience from from Rudolph, Basil, Charity, Letah, Basil and, of course Piet and Melvern simply capped our luxurious stay. Will most definitely return for more pampering!

We recently spent four nights at Zwahili on our honeymoon and we had an amazing time. When we booked our stay we thought that we would be wowed by the place – the location and the facilities. But in the end it was the staff that blew our minds.

We would really like to thank Letta for the way she treated us during our stay. For her big warm smile and the kind words she spoke every day. She made us feel very welcome and right at home. We also met two of the game rangers who took us on the included daily game drives. Rudolph was really easy to talk to and he loved showing us the place. He also took us Witkop which we really enjoyed. The view from up there is fantastic. And then there was Basil. We loved going on game drive with Basil because he has an extreme amount of knowledge when it comes to the fauna and flora. We also found out that he used to work in the Dinokeng area, where we come from, and therefore he knows many of the people and places we do. Zwahili’s gain is Dinokeng’s loss.

But the biggest hand of all should surely go to the chefs. Salomiena and Cornelia’s dishes was just something else, out of this world. Truly five star. The Eggs Benedict were perfect. Cornelia’s venison main was one of the best plates of food I’ve ever had and Salomiena’s berry desert with the golden ball on top was simply delicious. I think we both gained about five kilos during our stay.

We spent our first two nights in the Cheetah room. We enjoyed our stay in this room. It has a private balcony with a great view and a very nice bath, big enough for two people. This room is also close to the dining hall and to the game viewers, so you never have to walk far.

Our last two nights we spent in the Royal African Suite. Wow! What a treat! The view from the bath is something special and when it rained it was so beautiful to watch the water fall into the splash pool on the deck. We also enjoyed the outside shower, but we did find it difficult to control the water temperature, the gas geyser has only one temperature – extremely hot! It was nice to have our own television with DStv in the Royal African but what is the couch doing against the wall – not facing the TV? So we moved it, and it was perfect.

We met two wonderful couples during our time at Zwahili, one from Johannesburg and one form England. The game drives make it possible to get to know the other guests a little better.

Suggestions:
1. We would have loved to have taken our mountain bikes with and cycle around the farm since there are no real dangerous animals. However, with the two new lions on their way this would probably never be possible.

2. Create a package which includes at least non-alcoholic beverages.

We really had a wonderful time at Zwahili. Thank you for the great service. We hope we’ll be lucky enough to visit again.

Nicholas and Anné Engelbrecht

Room Tip: Spend a little extra and stay in the Royal African. You won't regret it.
