We had a lovely midweek stay at the resort. The chalets are very well equipped, cleaned daily and very, very comfortable. The Pizza at the restaurant was excellent. We enjoyed the Hippo pool so much! The babies are gorgeous. My husband enjoyed a round of golf on the well kept golf course while I enjoyed taking photo's of the surroundings. The resort is very close to the Kruger National Park. We arrived shortly after the gates opened and spent the whole day game viewing. Make sure to go to the Elephant Sanctuary a couple of minutes from Sabi River Sun Resort for a very informative and close up session with the elephants. All in all, we had a very memorable stay at Sabi River Sun and will most definitely be back.

Room Tip: All chalets are well situated, but personally, I'd love a chalet close to the hippo pool. Some o...

The overall experience was great, however the King Size Room did not meet expectations. We would probably have been better off in a standard room with a view. It felt like we were stuck in the dungeons of the hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights in the hotel while friends of ours stayed in the chalets. The setting on the Sabi River is magnificent with the opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles and many birds close at hand. We found the hotel rooms to be very small and lacking in imagination. Initially we were put into one of their 'upgraded' rooms on the south side of the hotel. It had no bath, a very small bathroom, and a king size bed with no other features. We asked to be upgraded to a suite and were told that all rooms were identical in shape and size, and that we were in an upgraded room. We asked to see a north/east facing room and although it had not yet been upgraded we preferred it as it had a bath with shower, and the furniture was better suited to the room. Although there is a verandah it is tiny and not really usable for anything more than having a cigarette if you happen to be a smoker.
The chalets are a great option if you are travelling as 2 couples. They are fairly spacious and well equipped and the main bedroom has both bath and shower. There is a nice outside braai area and the kitchen / living area is comfortable with television. Even as a single couple I would opt to stay in the chalet at a slightly higher price than go into the hotel.
I had a massage at the spa which was well done. Breakfast was good and the staff very pleasant and helpful but we found the dinner menu small and the wine list limited. If we go back it will be to the chalets where we have more space to enjoy the tranquillity and the magnificent setting.

Room Tip: Go into a chalet.

The resort is amazing with professional and friendly staff at all times year after year the standard remains the same. The renovations to the units are excellent and so enjoy the sunsets at the dam bird and hippo watching! I would recommend this resort to visitors with pride.

We stayed in the Hotel this time, for 3 nights, we were 2 couples, our room the air conditioner is new, great, the other an old one rather noisy. The bathrooms are really small, not sure how they would solve that one. But could do with an uodate, maybve just change to a shower with no bath. They have obviously changed chef, as this time the food in the evening was great, again the breakfast is very very ordinary. The food does not keep very warm and for the Price R230, very very very expensive. The grounds are great, seem to have had a change in a lot of staff, all the ones we dealt with were exceptionally friendly. Shout outs to Caphus, he was a hoot!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Best to see if you can get a chalet, if not 101 & 102 have been updated, we didn't stay ther...

I had read some conflicting views on this hotel. I think I understand why. We stayed in a chalet. They are dated. My first impression was that it needed a makeover. But once settled in, they seemed to fit the setting. TV about the size of an ipad. Everything is very well maintained and comfortable. I don't play golf, but very nice surroundings. Restaurant food was well presented, tasty and good quality. Service levels good. I wouldn't absolutely rave, but was quite happy with my choice and would stay there again.
