“Great place”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

Great place for families. Nice lodge with lots of activities. Clean rooms and great service. Very close to Kruger park and other scenic places as well as shopping centre. Downside was that the room had plenty mosquitos as well as a bee hive in the braai area.

Room Tip: Chalets alongside the river are generally better

We stayed in a 2 bedroom chalet at Kruger Park Lodge through RCI. The amenities were very nice and the staff was very helpful. The only downside being it was a bit too commercialized with the golf course, restaurant and other facilities.

Kruger Park Lodge is one of those family getaways that really does tick all the boxes....and when the management and staff run the resort as well as they do at KPL, it really lends itself to a most fantastic family holiday.

From the very start, my experience was top class. The reservation staff were super and so accommodating in every aspect. Nothing ever to much trouble and this was echoed by the front desk staff in our arrival. Not once did I experience poor service during our 4 night stay from any staff member. Always a smiling face and a offer of assistance to help.

We chose a 2 bedroom lodge as we have 2 kids and whilst it was quite small compared to other options at the reosrt, it suited us perfectly. It was wonderfully located with the most breathtaking view of the hazy hillsides over the lake. There are larger and more grand options available to suit your requirements so research properly before booking.

The gardens on the estate and golf course are beautifully maintained and the cherry on top were the tame impala antelope gracelly grazing under the trees next to our lodge.

The Kruger National Park is situated close by, the closest entrance being Phabeni gate. It only took a few minutes to drive there and we thoroughly enjoyed our game drives with fabulous big five viewing.

I wish i had booked for an extra couple of days ... I would say a 6 night stay would be perfect to benefit from the myriad of fun and exciting things to do. We will most definately be back and look forward to our next stay at Kruger Park Lodge.

We set up our week here through RCI about a year in advance, and after studying all the writeups about it we were excited upon our arrival. Then we started our journey to our 2 bedroom condo, passing lots of gorgeous locations. We finally found our unit, all the way at the end of the property. Unfortunately, the RCI international exchange units were not like all the rest. We found a very cramped out-of-the-way unit - not at all what we expected.

The staff though, was very helpful. While they had no other units available for us, they and we worked with the local RCI agent who quickly found a 2 bedroom condo in nearby Sanbonini Resort - a smaller resort but much more to our liking and expectations.

The unit they had for us in Kruger Lodge looked clean - it was just in no way what we expected.

Room Tip: I recommend that if you are exchanging through RCI, verify what kind of unit you'll be in.

We stayed at Hippo House at the Kruger Park Lodge for two days. Hippo House sleeps eight people and is comfortable and well-equipped for self-catering guests. The Lodge has excellent facilities for the whole family, as well as a hippo hide where you can watch the hippos cavorting at sunset. Staff at the Lodge are helpful and friendly. The Lodge is close to the Kruger Park.

Luxury self catering cabanas with BBQ and wooden deck to watch wildlife like birds and buck. Buck wandering freely on the well kept premises. Swimming pool, tennis court, lapa, golf, restaurant with bar and everything you expect from a golf estate. The hippo watch is out of this world. Close to Kruger National Park, where you can go and see the big five and do a tour of the Panorama Route. Close to a big shopping mall with restaurants etc. high standards an friendly staff and management.

Stayed at self cater 'block' set on outer edges of the chalets. 2 beds which were clean, organised and laid out. 2 bathrooms, 2 beds, kitchen/sitting room arrangements. Good fixtures and fittings with nice beds. Saw impala, hippos and many insects while dining or BBQ outside on the balcony. Very close to kruger which was great for an early start to do a safari tour (starting at 5.30 am). Close to Perry's Bridge trading post and also supermarkets. Handy and yet quiet and relaxing.
Pain in the neck literally was the sleeping policemen for the speed bumps which are all set at an angle across the roads which are difficult to go over except 1 wheel at a time. After a week these do become annoying. Grounds very well maintained and lovely.
Good standard. Reception/restaurant ok.
