“An excellent start to our holiday”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

Stopped here on the way to the Kruger after flying in to Nelspruit. The Inn was quite a revelation and an excellent way to recover from our travelling. The food was good and the staff helpful and friendly. They even managed to supply a decent meal despite the lack of electricity due to a lightning storm in the area.

The only downside to the visit, which is no fault of the Rissington, is the poor state of the roads in the area and some corrupt traffic police locally and on the road to the Kruger who try to extract money from tourists by various means. (They tried but got none from us.) If visiting some of the local tourist spots it is probably worth hiring a driver to take away this stress of such an encounter.

We were lucky to have the Rissington inn recommended to us as I don't think I'd have found it through Trip Advisor. We had just finished a safari and wanted to spend a few days exploring the area further. Chris and his team really made this a fantastic stay for us. On top of enjoying the experience it is amazing value for money.
The staff are so helpful, very engaging and create a fun environment. After being out through the day, we had no desire to go anywhere else. Good food and wine available at excellent prices plus a bar where it was easy to sit and share experiences with other guests.
On the rooms I'd say that you should pick to suit your own personal needs. There is a wide choice and they are all excellent value.
Would thoroughly recommend this place and look forward to going back if we are in the area.

We had a couple of nights here as we returned from Safari in the Timbavati. Used Rissington Inn as the place to recoup and visit Elephant Whispers (separate review) and Chimp Eden.
The rooms are magnificent clean and quiet. Just what we all needed. Travelling in an extended family group we were made to feel welcome and were accommodated in all our wants. The food is something you need to experience.
Recommend this establishment highly and is within walking distance to the town of Hazyview.

What a haven of warmth, hospitality and good food - a real find, close to the Kruger Park. Owned and attentively managed by Chris Harvie, the rooms, suites and garden 'cottages' are all quite charming in a very relaxed, unceremonious setting. We stayed in two types of accommodation (having returned after fleeing from a less salubrious place!) and found each atmospheric and spotlessly clean. The gardens were wonderful and I spent two early mornings birding- and notching up over 30 species - including glossy ibis and marsh owl which are not on the 'house book bird list' The meals were excellent - beautifully cooked and presented and, for visiting Brits, very reasonably priced. We shall return! Thanks, Chris and your first class staff for an unforgettable stay.

Room Tip: The suites have two double beds; the 'garden rooms' sleep two in great comfort. The outdoor...

We stayed here for three nights after our trip to a game park. The ambiance was good. The food and wine were great and the staff were kind. All of this at prices which would have been laughable in the UK. It is a beautiful part of Africa but you have to remember that it is Africa.

Well done everybody!

A little late in writing as our family stayed there last october but worth the wait as they deserve all praise. We had a fabulous experience as we prepared for our Kruger safari and enjoyed the atmosphere tremendously. The food was simple but tasty and delightfully fresh and varied; the staff very accommodating and the rooms well appointed. The General Manager could not have been more hospitable and helpful.

Room Tip: There are some rooms facing a field and you can sit on your verandah with an evening cocktail as zeb...

Returned for my fourth stay, and was as delighted as I have always been with the welcome, accommodation, food and service. "Mahogany"was well placed to enjoy the monkeys and zebra while relaxing on the stoep, sorry the hippos didn't make an appearance! We will be back...(again!)
