We stayed here after getting married in Garonga Safari Camp. We had the Hilltop suites and they were wonderful. All the staff a charming and so helpful nothing is to much trouble. Our travel agents had not told us we would have to book activities, but this was not a problem the staff had it arranged within half and hour. The food is amazing and what a great selection. There is so much to do in the area for the whole family. I just wish we had stayed longer as it was truly beautiful.

Room Tip: The standard here is just so high

Rissington Inn was suggested by our travel agent as part of a 9 day itinerary in South Africa, and we stayed 3 nights but wished it was longer. This part of the world has so much to offer if you love the outdoors and there was much more we wanted to see.
The inn has a lovely relaxed atmosphere with charming staff who seem to appear whenever you need something. We ate in the restaurant each night & found the menu varied & interesting with something for everyone; the chicken & prawn curry was our favourite. The wine list is ridiculously good value. We stayed in 2 superior rooms with our 12 & 15 year old kids & found them spacious & comfortable. We appreciated the free wifi making it easy to keep in touch with home.
We stayed Friday to Monday & hadn't realised that many places close on Sunday, so if you want to visit attractions like the elephant encounters or adventure activities bear this in mind. We drove the spectacular panorama route on our first day which was very cloudy - at God's Window he had the curtains closed & all we could see was fog! Thankfully the skies cleared gradually as the day went on. The following day the kids did the Skyways Trail of ziplines in the trees, which they loved, & we spent the afternoon at Mac Mac pools, a beautiful picnic spot with natural pools to swim in (only the mad 12 year old as they were freezing at this time of year!).
Kruger is very accessible from here but as our next stop was a Sabi Sands safari lodge we didn't do any self drive safari on this trip. Maybe next time! Thanks Chris & team for a really relaxing & enjoyable stay

When you drive towards the Inn from the main road you do not expect to get a nice oasis like it is. With lodges scrambled around the main building the dusty and bustling Hazyview village centre seems far away. The Rissington offers a great spacious room and sufficient bathroom. It may need a lick of paint and a renewall of the bathroom however. But the view is super. Even better, the restaurant serves some great dishes. Probably the best we ate in any hotel while we're in SA. The portions were huge but very tastefull and with an adventurous menu offering a mix of Indian curries, meat dishes from the grill and veggie variety.

And from the Inn the Kruger and Panorama route are very close by. About an 30 minute drive either way. Great spot.

Room Tip: There some rooms with an outside shower..nice and excotic in summer, somewhat chilly in winter

A small correction. The Phabeni Gate of the Kruger National Park is only 10 minutes from Rissington, not 30. Graskop and God's Window are 20 minutes away.
Thanks

Hazyview is a very vibrant and busy little town, that is used by tourists as a base to explore Kruger National Park and the surrounding terrain. There isn't much else to see or do here. My husband and I stayed at The Rissington Inn (Hazyview) during July 2014, to celebrate my forthcoming 50th birthday. We were there for 2 nights, as part of a 14 day South African trip, that focused in part on safaris. It was a beautifully maintained property, tucked away from the main road via a very long winding dirt track and was ultimately surrounded by other private properties and/or vineyards. So it was nice and quiet and private.
The Inn has a very homely but classy feel to it, that conveys a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The open plan homestead houses the restaurant, bar and lounges (for social chit-chat or reading) as well as framing the pool. It is here, where Rissington really shines. Friendly and helpful staff - and amazingly good food. We were not expecting such a high standard and quality dining experience in this locale. Coming from Melbourne (where you'll find Australia's best restaurants and a real 'foodies' culture) we were delighted with the gourmet dishes, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hats off to the Rissington kitchen, on doing a superb job! Outstanding!
The accommodation units were scattered in front of the homestead, looking out over the field and gardens beyond, which form a lovely setting. We stayed in a Garden Room (Acacia) which was clean and tidy, though perhaps a bit 'fresh' (for the time of year we traveled) having a concrete floor. The bed was however, comfy, large and warm and the veranda view very inviting. The afternoons were warm enough to enjoy watching the sun going down with a drink in hand, whilst gently swaying in the hammock. With a big bathtub, outdoor shower, tea and coffee making facilities (no TV, but who needs one?), wifi and room service available, there's nothing more needed in these nicely furnished units. The one criticism we had, was the poorly designed hand-held shower arm in the ensuite. You had to sit down in the bath, to take a shower or risk spraying water all over the ensuite floor (which my husband did on the first night). Given we were only there for 2 nights, this wasn't a big issue but longer stays could make it a deal breaker if you are there in the cooler months, and unable to use the outdoor "regular" shower.
We spent a morning doing the Panoramic Route and a full day's safari at Kruger whilst at Rissington, so didn't spend much time enjoying the facilities. I would certainly recommend a stay here if you appreciate great food and wine, and are looking for a peaceful location with terrific staff and comfortable accommodation.

We dropped in at the Rissington Inn late at night with no reservation. We could not get in touch with them through phone (it appeared that the phone lines had been stolen) and took the risk. We had a long, exhausting day and the staff was very friendly. They upgraded us to a larger room (Euphoria). Very nice room. We had a very good dinner just before the kitchen closed. Carpaccio of Steenbok and Crocodile curry. Also excellent wines. We enjoyed the Alto wine very much.
Fine breakfast in the morning. Convenient with several shopping centers nearby. Handy if you go to the bush.
