We holidayed for 2 weeks in South Africa. Of this 1 week was at Mpumalanga. Our tours were booked from India through TravCare. TravCare had outsourced our Mpumalanga tour to elephant Herd. We were picked up at Nelspruit airport by Bradley who drove us to Sudwala lodge (own booking).
Day 2 to Day 6 were well planned by Elephant Herd.
On day 2 we did the Kruger Full Day Animal drive. Our guide in Kruger was Martin. He was either very good or very lucky. We got to see the following by the road: mating lions with a contender across the road, two herds of elephants, a rhino, two herds of hippos, a family of hyenas, a giraffe, a herd of kudu, a leopard kill with a vulture and bateleur eagle feasting on it (we could hear the leopard but could not see it), a herd of cape buffalo, herds of deer, impala, bushbuck, and eland - all in the morning drive. In the mid-morning we got to see more elephants, hippos, giraffe, kudu, cape buffalo, and herds of impala from a distance. We also spotted a number of birds of different kinds including vultures, lilac breasted roller, fish eagle, kingfisher, cormorant, hawk eagle, etc. The afternoon was relatively unproductive with a few kudu, hippo, impala and an occasional bird. Martin kept us enthralled with stories and snippets of information.
Day 3 was a relaxed visit to the Chimp Eden which took up only half a day. Day 4 was a relaxed half day at the Elephant Sanctuary). Day 4 was a packed half day at Sudwala Caves, and Donosaur Park, followed by the Botanical Gardens.
Day 5 was the full day Panorama Route.
Day 6 was, unfortunately a free day with absolutely nothing to do. It would have been better if another full day tour had been included earlier and a half day tour shifted to Day 6.
Bradley accompanied us throughout and was most friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
We later found that we could have arranged the same tour after we landed but more cost effectively.
