Owner description: The Lowveld National Botanical Garden in Nelspruit, ‘grows’ magically out of the confluence of the Crocodile and Nels Rivers and offers up a magnificent array of nature’s treasures. The two rivers create spectacular waterfalls which give this Garden its visually spectacular character.

So wonderful to see how nature should be. The Cascades are wonderful. All the raised walkways allow you to walk through the rain forest. It was a great mornings outing and well worth it. The type of place you can visit over and over again. We enjoyed the magnificent scenery, the dragon flies and lizards and even though there had been a storm the day before the staff had already cleaned up all of the damage.

“Great day-trip visit in the Lowveld”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 October 2013

The main reason for my visit was to see the Cascades waterfalls that is inside the Botanical Garden. You won't believe that these huge waterfalls (big in terms of area surface, not height) is located right here in the city of Nelspruit! It is a great place to visit and to have a picnic with your loved one on the green lawns, there are also benches along the walkway throughout the gardens. This is really a very nice outing to have picnic, lunch or just to see the waterfalls and walk in the African Rain Forest!

Well worth a visit. It has various aspects that make it a wonderful place to spend a few hours. A tree walk with a well illustrated tree booklet(R5). cycads, rain forest and canopy pathway, to name a few attractions.

“An Oasis in the Lowveld”

Great for birdlife and butterflies, not to mention the rain forest, waterfalls and lovely green lawns.
Tranquility in a city setting. Very reasonable entry fees - pensioner rates as well. Helpful, unobtrusive staff.

“Botanical gardens , Nelspruit”

We walked on a HOT day , but it was so pretty , that we were not affected! The waterfalls were very pretty! A big pity , that people dump plastic bottles etc upstream! We were lucky enough to be there when the Clivias were out! Wow! What a sight!! The trees and plants are all very well labelled and there is often a little story to accompany the trees and plants,
