Owner description: The Lowveld National Botanical Garden in Nelspruit, ‘grows’ magically out of the confluence of the Crocodile and Nels Rivers and offers up a magnificent array of nature’s treasures. The two rivers create spectacular waterfalls which give this Garden its visually spectacular character.

Take a picnic lunch and explore the gardens, they are well maintained and easy to navigate. Watch for snakes tho!

“Nice experience”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

We spent about two hours touring the gardens which have a lot of South African flora. The recreated rain forest with periodic shoers is a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

“Peace and tranquillity!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

We try and visit the Lowveld National Botanical gardens whenever we are in the area.
The gardens are well kept and the tree route is most interesting with folklore attached. It's an oasis of greenery during the heat of the day.

For those wanting some exercise, you can do the Riverside Trail - about an hour or so. There is also a boardwalk above the rain forest that leads to the stunning sight of the Nelspruit Cascades - tumbling, rushing water over huge boulders. Simply beautiful.

These gardens are very different to Kirstenbosch in Cape Town but I love the many, many trees, the rain forest and the peace that all the greenery brings.

Well worth a visit!

“A beautiful retreat during the heat of the day”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

This place is fabulous. A real gem which is likely overlooked by most tourists. Make a point of stopping here for a couple of hours to break your journey, relax, eat at the cafe and learn something about the south african vegetation. Lots of space for kids to run about and a new kids play area by the cafe/restaurant which helps with a 3 year old boy needing to let of steam.

“Always sensational - Kuzuri Restaurant is a WIN”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

I love these gardens- they're beautifully cared for and sensational to walk around. If you're looking for a peaceful walk or a sun-dappled nap, pay R24 (for adults) and head into the Lowveld Botanical Gardens. And if you're there after some rain you're in for a treat; the waterfalls are truly majestic when in full flow. The only sad part is that there's some litter carried down in the water, but that's not the fault of the Garden.

Kuzuri Restaurant is probably my favourite restaurant in Nelspruit. The food is excellent and unbelievably priced. I had the camembert burger (served with fig preserve and bacon bits) and left there wondering if it's a bad thing to want to marry a burger and bear it's little delicious children.

These Gardens are up there with Kirstenbosch; pay them a visit. Don't be frustrated if the employees there take their time; everything is a little more relaxed in the Slowveld.
