I grew up in Nelspruit, and we used to go to Costa do Sol often back then. It has changed owners since then, the current owners are the third. Apparently at least one of the original chefs are still there. The food they were best known for was the Portuguese food, and they still have my old favourites on the menu. One of which is the chicken liver starter, which tastes as delicious as ever! Not drowned in creamy sauce, just pan-fried perfectly and served with their accompanying sauces, one of which is a lovely tasty peri-peri. Another good starter is the"mixed starter" which is the same style of chicken livers as well as little bits of beef and I think it was giblets. Their beef carpaccio is also good. Main course favourites are the "Togetherness" (half a chicken and 6 Queen prawns, and the Portuguese steak. These never fail to satisfy me, I actually never order anything else.
The interior is really nothing fancy, with no view or outside area. Nothing to write home about but not distasteful.
The service was actually okay. Considering there was only one waiter serving about five tables and answering the door too. They lock the door and arriving guests have to knock with the big brass door knock to gain access. So service was interrupted by him having to go and answer the door every now and then.
We enjoyed our evening very much, and so can you if your expectations are not too high and you are patient with the service.
