Lovely Resort to stay in. Quiet and comfortable with an amazing view. Suitable anyone. Entertainment for all ages and easily accessible. Lots of privacy. Most preferred resort to stay in Nelspruit area.

This is a stunning riverside location which we promised ourselves we would stay at, after having stumbled across it while staying at the nearby White River country estate, several months ago. Taking a boat onto the dam and rowing leisurely past the wonderful properties, trees and vegetation on the shoreline was a dream. The grounds of the resort are beautifully maintained and look like a 'garden of eden'.The resort does provide several other activities such as tennis, volleyball and swimming. However, the quality of our (chalet) accommodation - which i would rate at 2 star at best - did not match the 5 star rating of the general surrounds. The decor and furnishings were old (old fashioned), and we had a problem with a missing curtain hook, that meant we could not close our curtain properly. This meant that our early morning slumber was interrupted by unwanted early morning sunshine. Although I reported this problem on the morning after our late evening arrival, this was never attended to. Yes the staff were friendly and seemed eager, but the second occasion on which this friendliness was not translated into delivery was when i called reception for an iron and ironing board. After waiting for almost 30 minutes, i eventually walked the 40-50 distance to reception to collect it myself. On arriving there, i was directed across the road to the lady in the mini supermarket who was instructed to collect it for me. After grumbling to me that her job was only to look after the shop, we eventually found an iron and board after rifling through some storeroom (actually, i found it because she didn't have a clue where to look). 20 Minutes after returning to my chalet, a different lady turned up at the door with..........another iron and ironing board 9some 50 minutes after my original request). In my view, It's attention to this detail, that makes a place memorable, or lack of attention that makes a place forgettable. So, would i come back here? The location is stunning, but based on the above, it's unlikely we'll be back to stay. Shame really.

Thank you for bringing these concerns to my attention, they will be resolved immediately. The resort is currently undergoing a refurbshiment in the bathrooms and a refurbishment in the lounges is due to commence at the end of 2014.

Pine Lake is a small quiet resort strategically located near many points of interest in the Blyde River Canyon and close to several gate entrances to the Krueger National Park, presumably the main reason to stay at this resort. Most complaints directed at Pine Lake concerns the approximate 50-foot rough section of their main entrance road. But believe me this is nothing if you are planning to visit Krueger, which has hundreds of miles of dirt/rough roads in their park. But as a note to Pine Lake; your guests don't care whose responsibility the road is, hire a bulldozer and smooth out your entrance road. I was in South Africa for two weeks and stayed at four different locations. Every place had really hard beds, so I think it's a South African thing. The fix for the beds if you like them a little softer is to rob the feather beds/comforters from the other rooms and sleep on them. Also the smaller bedrooms have a better selection of pillows. WiFi at Pine Lake is horrible, go to the lobby bar at the hotel across the lake, also check out when they plan on having enough people staying at their hotel for a buffet dinner and plan on attending, great selection of food. One last thing, be careful on the stairs of which there are many in Pine Lake’s split 4 level town homes. In construction of the stairs the riser height (which in the US is a standard 8 inches) varies widely between 4-10 inches from one step and the next.

The resort was immaculate. The only complaint I had about the accommodation is the lounge suite which was uncomfortable.
The resort is ideally located for trips to the Kruger National Park and all the beauty spots of this part of the world.
The power boats belonging to local residents were sometimes noisy and the speed was excessive, considering the number of children using the dam. This is not the fault of the resort.
We had a very relaxing time and would therefore recommend the resort if you are looking for a clean, well maintained place ideally situated.

My wife and I spent a week at Pine Lake Resort last month, March 2014. The resort was nice, good service, good security, beautiful grounds and lake. There was no internet service in the chalets. The only place it was available was the lobby, where it occasionally worked. A tip to get internet service there: unplug the USB dongle from the modem and plug it into your laptop, then install the MTN software, and you will be on the internet.

The only bad thing about the resort was the dirt road leading in and out of the property. There had been recent heavy rains and flooding. The road was incredibly bad, full of big deep potholes brimming with water, huge ruts, slick mud, water running across the road, gigantic bumps, etc. The manager said this road was controlled by the state and they refused to fix it. There is no restaurant at the resort, so if you go out to dinner, you have to drive back to the resort on this road in the dark, which is a harrowing experience. You'll need to go about 5 miles per hour. with frequent stops to negotiate this road. Turning right when leaving the resort puts you on the dirt road for 1.4 km, but it's not quite as bad as turning left, whjch is absolutely terrible, but is only 0.9 km long. Both roads take you to good pavement, with the town of White River less than 5 miles away. Luckily, Pine Lake Inn Restaurant and Oliver's Restaurant (outstanding food) are nearer the resort..

Other than the road, the lack of internet service, and the many stairs in the chalets, we experienced no other problems. There was good flat-screen TV reception, and all the resort personnel were courteous and helpful. We did enjoy our stay at Pine Lake Resort.

Great location freshly revamped modern clean and crisp bathrooms.
Well kept gardens with manicured expansive lawns.
Sparkling pool with many other water based activities on offer.
Access road needs some attention after the heavy rains.

Well maintained resort, But road to the resort you have to navigate very carefully, as the dirt road going off from the main White River to Hazyview rd ,is in a shocking condition!! Gardens are very well kept and you can have such a wonderful relaxing holiday here.
