“Not a good night's rest”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

The owners are very helpful and friendly, the old house is very beautiful there are however a few glitches. We had a very short stop-over in Kimberley and I am 100% sure if we had stayed longer and taken it up with the owners that they would have gone out of their way to make us comfortable.
Our room was connected to another room's bathroom by a door, and we were woken up during the night when our neighbours returned and used the bathroom. Because we were only separated by a door you could hear everything they were saying and everything else... I really enjoyed the owner's hospitality but for a good night's rest, I will probably seek another pit stop.

We got lost getting there and when I called they gave us a number to call when we got to Kimberly and they would have someone meet us there as at night there would be no one there until 7am. We called and when we arrived we were met by a young employee-she showed us in and gave us the family suite as the couple in our room wanted to stay extra night- we had no problem with the extra room. She showed us everything in the room and told us to keep the doors closed unless we wanted Mosquitos sharing the accommodations. We explained that the airline lost our luggage and she brought us toiletries and bug spray! The room was older but VERY CLEAN! For sure we would return their if we were to go back to SA-----

Belgravia in Kimberley was a very poor experience, best to avoid. A receptionist waited for us on arrival, gave us the key, cashed in our payment, and left for the day. Nobody else was on the premises (no other guests, no proprietor, no management, literally nobody) during the evening and the stormy night, making it all rather spooky. The room was very, very tired, the swimming pool dirty. Breakfast was extremely basic. While the staff had eggs they could not even offer an omelet. On the morning of our departure there ws no water to flush the toilet, fortunately we had proactively brought some 5l water bottles ourselves as we had heard about Kimberley water supply problems. About half an hour after our relieved departure we received a call from the owner. We should have called them when we had no water as they could have fixed it in minutes! Totally useless to call with this 'suggestion' after the fact. Indeed lots of mosquitos with no protection.

Room Tip: Best to avoid altogether. If you need to stay over in Kimberley you might want to try the Protea or...

We were met with the remark: " thougt you wouldn't show up anymore" 's thougt we had indicated that we wouldn't arrive before 07.00 p.m. Receptionist was indifferent and did not show us the facilities like pool and lounge. Room was adjacent to car park, small and packed., we could hardly move, cupboard only had one clothe hanger. At breakfast, before ordering, we were told that à down payment was made but still à balance to settle. Good morning to you.

Heidi the owner phoned us and was extremely angry and shouted and hurled abuse at us 'how do you expect our staff to wait for you?" This was after we called her to say we would be 45 minutes late! after road work delays.

We were shocked and dismayed at her attitude. When we said we would post a review on Trip Adviser Her reply was 'My Husband said you can do what you like!"

She told us to go to the Protea hotel and we would receive a refund from her. When we arrived in Kimberly we went to Belgravia and found the place completely dark and empty. We spent the night at the Kimberley Club what a delight. My advice to all travelers is to avoid Belgravia like the plague NEVER AGAIN!

Service very good, spacious room and bathroom though dated. Quiet outside by the pool though privacy is not existing. Be aware in summer of mosquitoes, not possible to sleep and nothing in the room to help with that!

We recently stayed in Belgravia Bed and Breakfast in Kimberley.
This is truly a hidden gem.
A neat and very homely place with pretty garden and pool.
Our family stayed in the family cottage and it was extremely clean and well kept.
The room was spacious and overlooked the pool with patio set right outside the door.
Choose this little b&b for your next trip to the BIG HOLE !!!
Thank you Heidi !!!
