beginning at the beginning. we arrived at the gate only to be greeted by rude security. no welcome no please no thank you. reception was amazing giving pancakes and refreshments and the staff was friendly, next the porters was fast and friendly. we decided to go for the buffet for supper lets just say getting to a table with dirty cutlery is horrid and the managers reaction was poor to say the least, starter was average, the main was pleasant better than last year, desert was disgusting I have no idea how you wrack jelly but they did and if you don't like strawberry you can not have most of the desert. this is the second year i have been here and it is falling back in my opinion we will see how the week go's on. hoping for the best. it must be said thou that he location is amazing and the rooms are neat and linen is clean

We have been coming here sins i could remember. This time when we got to the gate the grades where unfriendly, this being the first impression someone gets of kwa maritane is not a good sign. The reception was warm and welcoming and very efficient. The porters where very helpful and friendly. We decided to go to the restaurant the evening , were we discovered the cutlery was very dirty , we pointed it out to a manager who didn’t really have a reaction. After asking for clean cutlery 3 times we received it , our drinks were taken off the bill for compensation but was still given to us with a don’t care attitude and to this moment we didn’t get a proper apology. Afterwards we saw one of the staff members who was clearing and setting the tables, he dropped some of the cutlery and when he picked it up at least he did not put it on the table but while watching him i saw him putting it in the shelves with the other clean cutlery . The food is not what it was 5 years ago. The starters were ok and the main course was excellent the dessert was not up to scratch at all, there were at least 4 puddings that were just strawberry flavoured in different forms, there were no warm pudding and its winter, the jelly and custard was terrible (how you get that wrong i do not know) , so the only other option is chocolate or again strawberry ice-cream , with no option of vanilla, with the added bonus of the ice-cream being crystallised but edible. This being the case the meal was not worth its price. The staff were always so friendly and even knew us by our surname, we felt like we were treated as family and so far not the case. It is like they expect gests that only come once and will never return so they don’t worry about getting them back.

One of the biggest lodges we stayed at. Very touristic, not very personal and the staff was not always this helpful. We felt more being treted like tourists that are visiting once and not coming back, so let's get it over with... The room was cold and hard to heat because of the high cealing. Game drives were not very individuell and we were driving with lots of other cars. May be, we are a little bit too demanding, but the lodge and Pilanesberg felt too much influenced by the gambling paradies Sun City. The buffet food was OK, but nothing special and only average compared to other lodges. The landscape of Pilanesberg however is worth seeing and worth a day trip and as we only stayed there one day, I would still consider it allright and worth it - but we had expected something more special.

Room Tip: In Winter we would take a lower floor room with lower cealing to be able to heat the room. The room...

We spent 4 wonderful nights in a self catering unit last week. We stayed in a 3 bedroom chalet, one bedroom was upstairs in a loft, the other 2 were en suite. What a wonderfully appointed unit with everything we could have wanted. It really is 5 star accommodation. The hide is wonderful and is accessible via an underground tunnel. We watched a huge herd of elephants drinking which was lovely. The TV has a separate station which films the hide so if you see animals you can pop down to watch them. As we know the Pilansberg park quite well we did our own game drives, but the hotel does offer game drives. The staff were all wonderful, very friendly and efficient. We would definitely stay again. We did self cater except for one dinner which we ate at the restaurant. Unfortunately we felt it was extremely expensive for what was available, it was a very standard buffet for over R200/per person. Considering my 12 and 15 yr old daughters only has a spaghetti bolognaise and a small dessert each, we really felt ripped off. Next time we will ensure we self cater the whole stay. Other than that Kwa Maritane is a wonderful break.

Room Tip: we were in unit 94 which was lovely.

We stayed here for 2 nights and after the hustle and bustle of dub city found it to be very relaxing and peaceful. Lived that we could see game from our unit every morning and evening. The game drives were awesome. The kids enjoyed walking through the tunnel to the viewing point, although we didn't see any game from there. Would definitely stay here again

We adored our stay at Kwa Maritane. The rooms are nicely appointed. The staff are pleasant and helpful. We went on two Game drives, our first, and found them awe inspiring. The restaurant and bar are pleasant.

Excellent place for a people looking for safari rides, lots of animal to watch in real life, as they live in real. Services are really excellent, breakfast, lunch and dinner resturant is Marvelous. I recommend to take breakfast in upper floor outside, then u can have breakfast with beautiful animals :-)
Rooms are good enough to live in Safari village.
It's near to the Sun city, must to go there and enjoy.
