A pretty guesthouse in a great location. The deck and pool area have great views of the sea and mountains and is especially beautiful at sunset. The pool is a good size. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Occasionally we could hear the road and dogs in the morning which did wake us, but wasn’t a problem. The staff/owners went out of their way to help us. Breakfasts were relaxed and there was a good choice. The guesthouse felt very relaxed and friendly. We would definitely recommend to others and were sad to leave!

We first discovered the Bay Atlantic Guest House in 2000, back then it was our first visit to South Africa. Since then we have made many trips to different parts of that beautiful country but make sure to spend part of our holiday at the Bay Atlantic. We returned from our ninth visit last week, it is just the most perfect place surrounded by fantastic views. All the delightful Bay Atlantic family are only too pleased to help, with advice on places of interest to visit and suggestions for the best places to eat. Happily their reservations some how manage to get the best tables in the restaurants. Our favourite room is the Penthouse, it has a very comfortable sitting room decorated with interesting local art work, a private balcony with views of the 12 Apostles and Camps Bay. The Bay Atlantic is close enough to Camps Bay beach to be able to take a morning walk along it before returning to enjoy a fabulous freshly made fruit salad, followed by one of David's special cooked breakfasts. We hope it won't be too long before we return for another.

We stayed here for the last 2 nights of our trip. We had been lucky enough to enjoy some superb accomodation during our journey and were very much looking forward to finishing it off in style...oh what a disappointment! There was only one room available when we booked and it was described as the smallest in the house so we weren't under any illusions. However it wasn't the size of the room that shocked us but the fixtures & fittings. We found ourselves in a 70's time warp with extensive use of glossy pine everywhere, shelves, curtain poles, drawers etc. The wardrobe looked as though it may collapse from fatigue at any moment and the room safe had lost the ability to use it's combination lock...old age I suspect! On the PLUS SIDE, as I said, friendly and helpful owners/staff and a superb pool area and views.

Thank you for being so frank with your comments. This in turn allows us to address them. Our Mountain Room is, as you quite rightly stated, advertised as being the smallest room in our property and is priced accordingly.Having said that it is on schedule for a refurbishment as is the Garden Room to bring them both in line with our other five rooms / suites. Unfortunately the 2012 season lasted much longer than anticipated meaning that the planned renovations had to be placed on hold for 2013 winter season which is when we historically effect improvements. The latter end of 2013 will see a fully revamped product offering one that will offer a vastly improved look and feel. We are very much hoping that you will visit again when in South Africa and allow us to show you the end result.

Good things first - thoroughly enjoyed the stay, views to die for, great pool and deck, great access to beach, very comfortable bed linen changed every day, quiet a/c, good breakfasts and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Not quite so ideal? The "Garden" room is a misnomer for limited light and no view as it is below garden level (although this is reflected in the price) and the room could do with updating albeit cool and comfortable. The owner's dogs were a nuisance, they soiled the lawn and the young Ridgeback nearly knocked my wife and another guest over in its search for attention. However, the acid test is would we stay again and the answer is a resounding YES.

Room Tip: The pool rooms and upwards are far superior and this is reflected in the price. If you don't pla...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and for assisting us in terms of providing for guests requirements going forwards. The Garden Room is on our schedule for renovations in the forthcoming winter season when various features will be altered . As I am sure you can appreciate renovations / refurbishments are an ongoing process in a property of this nature. Our 2012 season saw upgrades to The Penthouse Suite. The Atlantic Room and The Bay Room. Winter of 2013 will see major changes being effected in both the Mountain and Garden rooms. Bernie's puppies sit by the interconnecting gates all day just waiting for an opportunity to slip through and up to the main property for a visit. Unfortunately dogs can be boisterous and bearing that in mind we are all now making a concerted effort to keep them contained in their own property as we do appreciate that not everybody likes dogs !! Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience during your visit. Nice to hear that we will see you again - Hopefully soon !! until then take care.

The Bay Atlantic was our 11th guesthouse during our extended trip of the Western Cape and despite an element of travel weariness ( and a reluctance to return to a UK winter) it lived up to its billing in all aspects.

From the moment we were greeted at the security gate - bags deposited in our room - followed by an offer of beer - we were made to feel welcomed. This welcome set the standard for the rest of our stay. That night's dinner was arranged in a trice followed by many suggestions to make the most of our stay.

We were in the pool room with its own outside sitting area which by co-incidence was close to the pool - not your usual plunge pool so common in other guesthouse but one long enough for a few strokes and it had a deep end! The room was fine - large comfortable bed - storage areas - separate sitting area in front of TV with its 5 earth bound channels - more than adequate bathroom with a large and powerful shower - plus AC. Breakfast was taken upstairs and was cooked to order which was great.

The Bay Atlantic is almost at the top of a steep hill that rises from the beach which is both a benefit and a disadvantage. The benefits are of course the sweeping views across Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean which are just stunning plus you can see the cable car at the top of Table Mountain and the 12 Apotles of which there are 17. The downside for us - not quite in the first flush of youth but very close - was that the hill was something to overcome on the way back from the restaurant. On-street parking in Camps Bay is not easy and being a very popular location the use of the car would not have helped. More a point to note than a major quibble.

Cape Town and Table Mountain are very accessible from the Bay Atlantic - just turn right and follow the road uphill to the junction and then it is largely downhill the downtown and the N2. Take the coast road and be prepared to be fustrated.

Finally we really appreciated the check out servce that means you can stay relaxed to the end of the holiday and be able to make the most of the last day. There is dedicated shower and toilet for those guests with a later flight. So after final sightseeing or lounging around the pool there is the opportunity shower and get ready for the night flight ahead.

All in alll we enjoyed the Bay Atlantic and Camps Bay and we had the added bonus of seeing 2 whales feeding just 100 metres or so from the beach which put the cherry on the top of an already iced cake. When will we see you again? The immediate answer would be soon!

Being situated so close to the beach has its advantages the short hill back up is not one of them however knowing that you can laze by the pool when you get back whilst enjoying some of the best views that Camps Bay has to offer hopefully compensated in some small measure. Parking in Camps Bay is an ongoing problem in summer months as its Blue Flag status draws visitors from around the globe which is why we offer secure parking enabling our guests to walk anywhere in Camps Bay / surrounds. Our check out service is just one of the small ways in which we try to ensure that your holiday can last as long as possible. Knowing that your luggage is safe whilst you enjoy your last day and that a shower can be taken prior to leaving for the airport seems to be much appreciated. We are glad that your overall stay was an enjoyable one and look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future. Until then take care.

We stayed at the Bay Atlantic on Dec 12 for Reveillon and we had a very nice experience!
Great location, 5 minutes by walking and you put your feet on the sands.
As a family with four we booked 2 rooms: Penthouse room (suite + private living room + private terrace + amazing views) and Pool Room (large room divided in bed and living area).
The service is really hight standard and everyone is helpful and very polite.
If you are looking for a comfortable, clean, good service, nice location and don't mind to stay in a guest house, so it is a place for you!
PS: There are a very nice restaurants nearby, just short walking...you can leave your car in the garage!

Room Tip: Penthouse room is very private, very good size and beautiful views (bedroom + living room + terrace...

Guest houses are often a pleasant surprise for guests used to staying in conventional hotels as the owners, ourselves included, strive to provide very personalised service levels. Thank you very much for reducing your comments to writing in this respect. We are looking forward to your next trip until then take care and travel safely.

Wonderful views from the pool deck and room balcony with a lovely breakfast, made to order, and very accommodating and gracious hosts. The location is amazing also, being a 5 minute walk to Camps Bay and Clifton beaches also. It was a lovely stay, highly recommended.

Eating breakfast whilst seated on the upstairs terrace really does offer some of the best views in Camps Bay. Add to that an extensive breakfast menu with items cooked to order and you are pretty much guaranteed a wonderful start to your day. We were delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable trip and are looking forward to hosting you again in the not too distant future.
