Busy restaurant great atmosphere and the best seafood I had in South Africa. Last time I had prawns this big was in the hawkers market in Singapore. Totally relaxed atmosphere with great service but don't expect fine dining just really fresh seafood.

“Great seafood experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2014

I'd heard about The Codfather through tripadvisor, so after a day of sightseeing around Cape Point we ended up driving back through Camps Bay and spotted the restaurant sign. The reviews are correct. It's a lovely restaurant. We we able to sit near the fire, which was lovely as it was raining and cold outside. Our waiter explained the whole process of what they did and how to order. We started with a couple of plates of sushi, which were very good. Then we went up to the counter and ordered our fish. It came to the table in a big bowl with masses of fries and veggies. i liked the dinner plates/dishes, as they kept in all the lovely juices. The bill was very reasonable too. Sushi, fish for two, wine & water for under £50.

Amazing seafood, so fresh, so lovely. Good staff and great value. Sushi was also awesome and great to watch the chef prepare it.

“Great seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

This place has great seafood and it's all very fresh. You go up to a counter with a ton of variety of seafood and pick out exactly what you want, and you have a choice of a few different sides. They grill it/prepare it very well. The only thing was that we weren't exactly sure how much we needed for a meal. We ended up getting A LOT, so it's easy to spend a decent amount of money here.

“Great seafood with a lively ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

The food and service was excellent. You are first seated and a waiter will arrive shortly to introduce themselves and how to go about ordering followed by bringing you to the selection counter.

All the seafood go by weight with quite a good variety of mostly local fresh seafood. You can get recommendations and some insight on the taste and what to expect of each type of seafood. When you select the seafood items you want, you can also mention how large a portion of say fish or prawns you require as well. you could even go for small portions of everything.

It does get particularly crowded and a little smokey from the kitchen, but overall the ambience is fitting. There is a conveyer belt sushi bar as well if you'd like to have some or wait for a table if you did not have reservations. There's even a bar to have a drink before your table is ready.

Went to codfather twice during my trip. Definitely a must go especially if you're in Camps Bay. Suggested to have reservations.
