This was our second visit to Atholl House, which on its own gives testament to what an amazing place it is. Our Xmas break is very precious to us as it is the only time when my wife and I can get away together. With this being the case we choose our break very carefully.
We went to Atholl House in Cape Town for Xmas 2012 and stayed for 9 days. When we came back to the UK in January we had enjoyed the stay so much that we re-booked to go again for Xmas 2013, but this time we booked for 12 days.
In 2012 we stayed in the Onyx room which was amazing. In 2013 we split our accommodation between the Emerald room and the Amythist room. Both rooms were again fantastic for different reasons.
It's not just the rooms that are great though. The location, the views, the accessibility and the quality of the staff are all second to none. The place is spotlessly clean, the breakfasts are a perfect way to start the day and Atholl House is the perfect base to explore the whole of the Cape Peninsula.
Brendan and Katja are wonderful hosts and they are very knowledgable about the local area and very helpful when it comes to sorting out trips, restaurants and places to visit.
We will be visiting South Africa again and we will definitely try to stay at Atholl House. My only worry is that they will get booked up months in advance as it is such a popular choice for the traveller who wishes to have excellence and perfection for their vacation.
My wife and I would give this property and it's team 5 stars, 10/10, Platinum rating etc - you get the idea!!!

love the view, love the house. it was nice to wake up to an ocean view, having breakfast facing the Atlantic Ocean. Nice breakfast spread too. its a quiet place, so had really good sleep through the night.

We stayed in the Onyx room of the Atholl House for 1 week. Beautiful view of the 12 Apostles on one side and Camps Bay Beach on the other side.

Tired of big impersonal hotels, where you have to fight for a spot at the pool or cloned rooms that might be anywhere? then this place is the perfect place for you.

The room itself was big and very comfortable, great balcony with a sea view. It exceeded expectations - Great breakfast with choices to suit every taste, mini-bar with decent prices (similar to convenience stores); quiet private pool with enough sunbeds and a host who is helpful and great with advice and tips.

We enjoyed every minute there, even though we left early every day for sightseeing and exploring the surrounding area. We always came back to a quiet oasis.

Although it's possible to make do with buses and taxi's, I would recommend having a car.

There is no fault to be found here- it's a wonderful relaxing getaway and if you have a chance to stay here, do it ! :)

Room Tip: Onyx room has a dual aspect - view of both mountain and ocean

Brendan was outstanding and the views can't be beat. Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife and another couple. Brendan was very helpful and went above and beyond, assisting us with bookings and any questions we had.

A short walk down to the beach, delicious breakfast every morning, and clean & comfortable rooms. If we ever go back to Camps Bay, we'll stay here again.

Atholl is on the pricier side but you certainly get what you pay for. It is located in close proximity with table mountain and overlooks the picturesque Camps Bay. We stayed in the summer and we woke up every morning to beautiful skies and sea and also to a good breakfast spread which includes hot breakfast cooked to your liking. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable and clean and we really felt at home. Brendan and his staff were tremendous hosts and they will see to your every need if it is within their ability. Great place to stay and I will be back if I am ever lucky enough to visit Cape Town again. Cheers!
