We have a lot of favourite hotels in the world - the Hatton in Melbourne, Kirketon in Sydney, Indijup in Margaret River - and now the POD in Cape Town. Brendan and his team were extraordinary from the start, making us feel right at home in this stunning beach side setting. The restaurant recommendations ( Codfather is brilliant !), winery guide, directions for sightseeing, bookings - all perfect. The hotel design and location maximises its views - some rooms are restricted with ocean views but the front lounge makes up for that. We lounged on the front deck by the pool before dinner and watched the sun set. The stone and wood design of the hotel with wonderfully thought out architecture and furniture gives an organic feeling - and as a cyclist you have access to some of the best rides in the world straight out the front door. Breakfast was also a highlight each day and we looked forward to a champagne at night time with the sun streaming through the clouds and the sounds of those waves - just magic.

Room Tip: Ask for room with ocean views.

Dear Shaun

Thank you for the wonderful review! We have to agree that there is something really special about POD and we are glad to hear that we have made it into your favourites list.

Its good to know that we are current with all of our restaurant recommendations, wine estates as well as activities on offer in the area - this can often make or break a guests experience in Cape Town.

We hope to see you next year during the Mining Indaba in Cape Town and possibly an extended stay for the P&P Cape Argus Cycle Tour!

Warm regards

We spent three nights at POD and didn't want to leave. The service was unparalleled, from breakfast in the morning to drinks by the pool in the afternoon. They took care of all bookings on our behalf, including dinner at The Roundhouse which was an experience of a lifetime. I couldn't recommend POD highly enough.

It was an absolute pleasure hosting you during your honeymoon trip in South Africa.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed "The Roundhouse," its one of Camps Bay's finest restaurants and was ranked in the Top 10 restaurants in SA by Eat Out this year.

We travelled South Africa and stayed in many hotels, this was absolutely the best by far! The staff cannot do enough for you, and the rooms are of the highest quality. We arrived at 7am with a 2pm check-in & was given a temporary room at no charge and then everything moved to our new room for us. Ignore the last review, how picky!! Yes you can see an ugly building if thats what you want to look at, but go and pay three times as much for a slightly better view and you still wont get the location and quality that you enjoy at the POD. The restaurant recommenndations were also spot on, including the Codfather which is far from a tourist venue - just select what fish you would like and how you want it cooked, this beats the traditional menu!! We had a room with a plunge pool which was a free upgrade, we had an absolute blast! You can even order from the local Italian restaurant and the hotel will collect and plate it up for you, whilst sitting round the pool - The best hotel and service we have ever experienced, and trust me, we have travelled extensively!

Excellent friendly staff assisted from the moment we pulled up, with access to the basement parking, our bags taken to our room and a drink offered before checking in.

Great bar for sun-downers, drinks were brought to our table with complimentary nibbles. The sharp eyed bar staff able to spot when drinks later needed refreshing.

The location is perfect for the beach and easy stroll to the Camps Bay shore-front & night-life.
Nick and Michaela at reception provided an excellent evening dinner suggestion along with directions.

Room was stylish, spacious & spotless with all the amenities we needed (including a UK style mains socket!). Bed very comfortable.
We had a room with a balcony plunge pool, perfect for a refreshing dip and watching the world go by from.

Gorgeous breakfast!

Thank you to Brendan and his team for a wonderful stay.

We have just returned from a stay in Cape Town and were extremely impressed on all levels at this superb boutique property in the most perfect of locations Cape Town has to offer.

Dominique greeted us on arrival and escorted us to reception where we were introduced to Michaela who is extremely welcoming and showed us to the room which was very spacious and comfortable. The Decor very impressive, funky and chic.Nick and Michaela are both great hosts and gave us a few suggestions for Dinner, we were so impressed by their advice of the Codfather Restaurant who they called to make a reservation.

Amenities in the rooms were the best of the best, our private plunge pool and view from our balcony of the beach was out of this world.Dominique was very attentive to our every need whilst relaxing at the main pool, we must say that the staff at The POD are all so friendly, and knowledgeable of what is on offer in the area and in Cape Town.

The breakfast the following morning was great with a super selection of everything we could possibly have wished for.Brian our waiter was very efficient and friendly. We were privileged to meet the General Manager, Brendon who welcomed us at breakfast and chatted to us about the property, he is obviously very passionate about his work as the attention to detail is evident and the staff so happy and welcoming.

We definitely give this boutique property 'top marks' in all respects and our expectations were most definitely exceeded. Thankyou Brendon and Team, you guys are TOP !!!

Room Tip: The rooms with private plunge pools are amazing !!!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Cool beyond question is POD Camps Bay. A true Africa original realised in a stunning set of decor elements, POD is both raw yet polished. See naked Africa design timber dropping into stone, shifting into glass, imbuing a sense of seaside sophistication so often attempted but so rarely achieved. 17 modern suites and rooms share the spoils of idyllic mountain and ocean views. Truly surprising is POD's proximity to the famous and ever energised Camps Bay beachfront, just a few light footsteps away. It is little wonder that POD appears on the Condé Nast Hot List 2011, and finds its place among Tatler's 101 Best Hotels in the World. ... more   less
