This hotel is amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the breakfast is good. The rooms are marvelous, we stayed in 201 and it was great. To see the sundowner either from your room or from the pooldeck is just awesome. It is also very conveniant that all the minibar is for free amd you can ask for more!
Do not miss the movie selection with popcorn or the beach service.

Pod Camps Bay feels much more as a House than a big Hotel... You just very quick feel home, thanks to the Place, but above all, thanks to all Staff who are really outstanding : kind, helpful, very professional, multitasking (people from reception often replace/help those from the Bar and even take care of the swimming pool). Above all, you can feel that every member of the Staff has been empowered to take immediate decision to help you with anything you need, and this is rare enough to be underlined.....
The location is perfect, ver close to the famous beach of Camps Bay, but without any noise/music from all cafés and Restaurants....
Definitely, The Place to Stay where you want to be on the middle of a so wonderful region : Cape Town city, 9Kms, Cape of Good Hope 1 within a hour, Table Mountain within 5 minutes, Houtbay and its fish Restaurants 15 minutes, etc....
We will come back....,

As part of our honeymoon in South Africa, my wife and I stayed at the POD. The decor was very nice, combining elements of modernism and minimalism, The location of POD was excellent, positioned a block from the beachfront and all of the cool bars/restaurants that make up the strip on Camps Bay. Most notably, my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the level of professionalism displayed and the service provided by the staff. From recommending hotspots to booking reservations, from packing breakfast for our hiking trip to arranging restaurant tables at our next destination in South Africa, the staff ensured that our trip would be a memorable one. On our last night at the POD, we went out for dinner. When we returned, the staff had spread rose petals over our bed and provided us with a bottle of Champagne! It was so sweet. When I make my next trip back to Cape Town, I would not stay anywhere else but the POD!

the PODs is truly a little jewel, right off the main promenade of camps bay. it is quiet and its open, modern and practical design (lobby, reception, breakfast room, bar and pool are all open to each other) make it very welcoming to stay there. everything is thought through to make you feel truly relaxed.our room was beautiful, quiet and clean. we felt very comfortable and embraced in it. breakfast was truly delicious (i loved the scrambled eggs), everything was always fresh and beautifully prepared. at reception they even had a scale to measure the weight of our suitcases before we left for the airport! and adapters! their car service is excellent, with very friendly & reliable drivers. and the most wonderful idea....they plant a tree in your name (the GPS coordinates of your tree will be sent to you via mail) & give you a beautiful key chain in the shape of a tree! the staff and management are truly exceptional (thank you brendan, micaela and megan). they are very friendly and professional and whatever we needed, we were helped with immediately. we were truly impressed! a really wonderful experience! i can only recommend the PODs.

Room Tip: ask for a room that is not facing the street!

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed report about your stay at POD Camps Bay.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed your room as well as all of the finer details that we have put in place for our guests. I have to agree about the scrambled eggs!

I am thrilled that you mention our sustainability initiative and our affiliation with Greenpop. We are proud of the fact that we automatically offset a portion of the carbon footprint of your stay by planting a tree on your behalf. To date we have planted over 400 trees.

Thank you so much for the praise on the management of the hotel, we work incredibly hard to keep up our high standards and without dedicated people such as Micaela, Meagan, Janine, Nick and Brian, this property would not be what it is today.

We hope to welcome you back to POD and perhaps, I will see you in Italy next year!

Warm regards,

Located right on Camps Bay with great views of the beach and of the mountains. Easy access to restaurants and the sightseeing bus stops 5 minutes away. Quality of rooms is excellent. Merc car service available which obviously costs more but very convenient and removes the hassle of taxis. The quality of service matches anywhere else we have stayed and the staff could not be more helpful. A bit pricey but worth it if you want to splash out.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a room with mountain and sea view

We felt liked we had walked into the open-plan ground floor of our holiday home, except this one our very own bar man! The atmosphere is very welcoming and cosy. Checking in was simple and quick and the staff very welcoming and helpful. There is a plunge pool and deck chairs for maybe 15 guests, a small gym and a spa treatment room.

Breakfast is the only meal served and while the choice is not extensive, the selection had everything we wanted and the quality of the food was very high, especially the orange juice. There is a selection of hot breakfast dishes - ask for the Pod Special - very yummy! If it's a sunny day, try to get a table near the bar for breakfast. The view over the pool to the sea is simply lovely. They do have a takeaway menu from an Indian restaurant if you want to eat in the hotel. We ordered some food in after a long day out.A table for us, food was transferred onto proper plates so it felt like eating in a restaurant rather than having a takeaway meal.

We stayed in their Luxury rooms (203 and 204) which were on the top floor and looked just like the pictures on the website. The room is split level, very spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Decor is very design led, modern and minimalist with a lot of attention paid to the finishes. Lighting is low but adequate and floor to ceiling windows let in plenty of light. The balcony stretches to the entire length to the room and gives a wonderful view of the beach and sparkling sea. Lots of little touches made the room quite special. Besides the coffee (proper coffee machine) and tea making facilities, there were biscuits, small packs of snacks like dried fruit, wine gums and nuts and everything in the mini fridge was complimentary. They even said that if we didn't like any of the drinks, they would try to get us something else. The bathroom is a wet room style, completely tiled in black slate and also open plan so there isn't a door for privacy when you are showering. There is a door for the toilet but it isn't completely soundproof so... Maybe a transparent rubber seal or strip along the edges could help.

We made a last minute decision to do some wine tasting and a taxi was organised for us very quickly. We were given bottles of cold water in little cooler bags every time we left the hotel and there was a welcoming drink of iced mint and lime water when we returned. Everyone had time for a chat and took really good care of us. They even plant a tree in a school, community centre or re-forestation project every time a room is booked. We stayed 3 nights in the first week of January. The hotel is in a side road, about 30m from the main road with the beach across the road and less than 5 minutes walk to all the restaurants. It's under half an hour to Cape Town, taxis are cheap and the red/blue open top tour buses stop almost outside. Given the choice between the two locations, I'd choose the Pod at Camps Bay anytime.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd floor rooms facing Argyle road, nos. 203 and 204 (one up from starter level) No plunge p...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Cool beyond question is POD Camps Bay. A true Africa original realised in a stunning set of decor elements, POD is both raw yet polished. See naked Africa design timber dropping into stone, shifting into glass, imbuing a sense of seaside sophistication so often attempted but so rarely achieved. 17 modern suites and rooms share the spoils of idyllic mountain and ocean views. Truly surprising is POD's proximity to the famous and ever energised Camps Bay beachfront, just a few light footsteps away. It is little wonder that POD appears on the Condé Nast Hot List 2011, and finds its place among Tatler's 101 Best Hotels in the World. ... more   less
