“amazing food, incedible views and friendly helpfull staff”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

Tuscany beach restaurant in Camps Bay. Most amazing, tasty food and friendly helpfull service. Staff were there to assist and wait on us throughout the meal but never made me feel like they were constantly there and watching. Food was amazing, tasty and flavours incredible. Prices was acceptible and well priced for the food. Portion size was big and filling, I battled to finish my entire meal. Views ana tables are amazing, allowing us to have a stunning sunset dinner right on the beach and watching the waves and shore. Cocktails are not the small little glasses but proper size and fresh. All round amazing and will definitely return there for another meal very soon. Many thanks to the friendly owner and staff.

“Great location but overpriced and small portions”
Reviewed 14 February 2014 via mobile

Had dinner here for valentines day. Great location and vibe however the portions are really small and pricy. Service was ok for such a busy night. Waited quite a while for starters.

Hi There
Thanks for your review on Valentines night .
Yes we were very busy last night our busiest Valentines ever , Boyfriends and Husband must be feeling the pressure !!
I am at a loss to understand your comments that our portions are small however , not sure what you ate , but most people cannot finish our pastas , steaks 300g upwards , big salads , pizza 300mm in size , so i would actually like to have known what you ate , so i could comment better and address your complaint.
I have have already responded to your comment that food is overpriced in my earlier response to the previous review , if you generally eat in CBD Town or in the Suburbs , then yes you may feel our prices are a little higher , i would love to pay these rentals , a fraction of what we pay here in Camps Bay.
I hope Landlords read these comments.

“All the bad reviews are right.... Read them!”
Reviewed 12 February 2014 via mobile

This place is a disgrace and a shining example of what South African tourism should NOT be
Burying previous sub-standard experiences we decided to try again on a picture perfect evening..... What a bad mistake
All the sentiments expressed in the other "terrible" reviews are correct and then some
It is NOT custom in South Africa to serve meals without any basic additions like fries/vegetables/salad so omitting to mention that these come at additional cost (on top of overpriced/small portion food) is not good enough
Our waiter essentially acknowledged that management not only were responsible for these practices but also appropriated the majority of the gratuities (if not all) so don't think you're giving well intentioned waiters the gratuity... It's another way of milking the patrons
Places in these positions have a responsibility to offer a good experience and contribute to our tourism profile
This place should be slated till they change their ways and earn the right to occupy such a prime position in Camps Bay

Whilst we have no problem with any review good or bad , but when it is totally inaccurate and is basically implying that we steal waiters gratuities and thereby " milking the patrons " , i really have to comment and correct you.
Our waitrons receive 100% of their individual tips at the end of each night -WITHOUT any deductions. These do not even form part of their "earnings".
They also receive a salary at the end of each month in accordance with Government legislature.
So i must comment that i find your accusations both utterly incredible and untrue.

I am afraid to advise you that most restaurants , certainly in the Waterfront and Camps Bay
ALL charge for sides separately , they are clearly indicated on our Menu as an extra charge item.
This gives you the customer the opportunity to order the dish with or without , thus saving , if they do not require sides.
Our prices may be not the cheapest you can find in Cape Town , but they are consistent with the other Camps Bay restaurants and generally below the Waterfront, unfortunately sustaining Camps Bay rentals of R400- R450 /m2 , such that this has to be passed down through our prices or we would not survive here.
Many restaurants have not survived here , over 12 restaurants have closed over the 18 year period we have been trading in Camps Bay , many of them well known Franchise operations.
A little extra on a dish seems a small price to pay for dining in one of the most prestigous beachfront locations in the world and sharing a sunset like no where else !!
We cater for our locals and tourists alike during the non season months by various 2 for 1 specials and special Groupon deals .
Our portions are generally oversize , 300g steaks , pastas that fill the plate , 300 mm pizza , so i really consider that our customers do get value for money.
We also do check on our patrons throughout service , so i wonder why this customer did not make some comment then .
You have not actually commented on the food , so i presume that was satisfactory.
Kind regards

Service and food are not bad. Don't go if you are veggie or want something simple. Portions are as in all of Cape Town area large.

“It can be a hit or a miss”
Reviewed 11 February 2014 via mobile

Have been visiting Tuscany for over 10 years. Experience tells us safer at lunch time than evening time when it's busier and food tends to get sloppy and this was true. A leisurely lunch with great sushi and good service made this a great start to this years holidays, is is also great spot for people watching.
