This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel and again it didn't disappoint. The hotel is in a prime location in walking distance to beautiful restaurants and the beach and only a short drive to the waterfront.
We will definitely stay here again.

We were only there for 5 days but the hotel was well work the experience. Beautiful location and in general the staff did everything they could do to help. One small criticism, the service in the restaurant was slow at time but otherwise, I would highly reccommend it.

We had an incredible stay of 5 days in this hotel. Service was first class. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We took advantage of a complimentary package at the spa offered and this was amazing. Did not want to leave. Restaurant was unused for dinner so no atmosphere but this was no issue as there were many very good eateries along the camps bay strip.

Nothing comparable to a standard 5 stars hotel.
Poor quality of the management. Even the duty manager, a lady, was not kind and not professional,
No concierge which is a minimum for an hotel at that price.
Quality of the room was low. The shower was an antic one, and the mountain view on the first floor was on a parking wall,...
I will never advise anyone to visit or stay at your establishment!
Aswell, as it was windy out side. My air conditioning was making some strange noise during the night.
One morning I could not have my Benedict Egas as it was a day when they was a group of people who had a buffet! So I had no choice rather to have a buffet,

Room Tip: Not to take the mountain view

We have just had a lovely stay at the Bay Hotel, the hotel and position was stunning.

We arrived at the hotel to be told that the third party agency that had made the booking had gone "bust" no fault of the hotel's I might but they did everything they could to ensure that we had a room booked for our stay and also contacted the lawyers dealing with the liquidation of the travel agency to ensure that we had as much detail as we needed to make a claim for our money back upon our return to the UK - something that the hotel were under no obligation to do!!

The room we had was perfect and the bed turning down service at night was unexpected but a nice touch.

We had breakfast at the hotel where the food choice was exceptional both buffet and hot food available, although the one small complaint I did have was that the waiters took an age to come to take our hot food order and then we also waited ages for the food to actually arrive although when it did it was very good.

I also eat by the pool a couple of times, a BLT and a burger which again were excellent and were very reasonably priced for a 5* hotel.

This is a fabulous hotel as proved by the tourists on the red tour bus who take pictures of it as they are passing - it does look impressive easily the best looking hotel in Camps Bay. The only small complaint I would have is the service in the restaurant during breakfast and the service by the pool - on 2 occasions myself and my husband had to go to the poolside bar to ask for drinks rather than someone actually coming to our bed to ask if we needed anything.

This was the only "blip" on an otherwise perfect stay and I guess the best recommendation would be to say that we would come back next year and definitely stay at the Bay again.

First things first -- this is a lovely hotel in a wonderful position and I truly wanted to love it as I had heard so much about it. However we just didn't. It was let down by annoying lapses by a good number of the staff some examples being an apparent lack of knowledge about what should be on the menu -- on 3 separate occasions items ordered from the menu didn't come as described, the receptionists were charming but slapdash, one booking tickets for Table Mountain for the wrong day leading to a fruitless queue and repurchase of tickets. All members of the Family commented that compared to The Vineyard from where we had just come, the staff seemed unfriendly and disinterested. This all sounds very negative and perhaps we were expecting too much. It remains a wonderful hotel and we would probably stay there again but it could be so much better with a bit more care and the attention to detail that a 5 star hotel demands. On a final note, if there was a rating between 'average' and 'very good', this hotel would be 'good'? One member of staff stood out for us and that was Holli in the dining room.

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. I am saddened at the fact that you had an unpleasant experience while staying at our establishment and would like to apologise for the service issues you encountered. You have made some valid points and highlighted areas where additional knowledge and training is definitely warranted. Stayed here in March definetly NOT a 5* hotel. Overall the staff were good the Reception staff helpfull. Arrived from London after a 11hour flight arrived at around 11.00 am had to wait 1 1/2 hours for our room to be ready nobody seemed interested. The rooms to be fair were clean and the decor good but the shower in the bathroom was horrible needed attention. :( . The staff uniforms were shabby and some were unhelpful. Odd thing we tried to order a glass of wine in the bar off the restaurant and was told that they didnt serve wine in the bar we had to go to Trader's downstairs! reluctantly he offered to go get a bottle- very odd!. On the whole it was just average. Luckily we went on to two other hotels that were just amazing. Sorry Camps bay !

On behalf of The Bay Hotel managemement team i would like to apologise for your concerns regarding the lack of hospitality and attention to facilities. Firstly, we do offer guests who arrive before the standard 14h00 check in time, the use of our day-use-room until their room is available. The fact that this service was not offered to you is concerning and i will take it up with the front office staff. The issue regarding the ordering of a glass of wine is perculiar and i can assure you we serve wine upstairs in Traders as well as downstairs in the Sandy B bar and The Pool Cafe.

I would like to thank you for your comments and assure you that your feedback is of the utmost importance to us. Our scheduled Winter Workshop should assist in fine tuning all aspects of the hotel, and in saying this i hope you consider returning to The Bay sooner rather than later so we can wow you with our improvements.
