“Wonderful. Perfect location for camps bay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2010

My husband and I stayed here in March on the last leg of our honeymoon and it was wonderful. The hotel is luxuroius, has great facilities and is in the perfect location - a stones throw away from the beach and all the bars and restaurants. The pools over look the beach and the trendy camps bay area so relaxing by the pool with a cocktail was just perfect. The breakfasts were fantastic and all the staff were very pleasant.
Our room was a bit small but it didn't bother us too much as we were outdoors most of the time. I would recommend a stay here.

We stayed at The Bay Hotel for 5 nights for our honeymoon. After a long flight (with a 6 hour wait at Istanbul) we felt like we had been travelling for days. On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff and found out we had been upgraded to a Pool Premier Room which was gorgeous and had a fantastic view of the pool, sea and a view of Lion's Head. When we returned to our room they had sprinked our bed with rose petals and left champagne and 2 massive portions of chocolate cake as well as little gifts.

The pool area is really nice with plenty of comfy sunloungers and very unobtrusive staff who bring gorgeous food from the deli and lots of refreshing drinks. The pool is huge and warm. The spa is also very good, we had received complimentary back and shoulder massages from the hotel and I went back for a manicure.

Sundowners in the bar were excellent with a good selection of drinks and great atmosphere. Breakfast was superb with extensive choice of hot breakfasts to order (might explain my weight gain!) and a cold buffet. We went out each night (try the Codfather round the corner or Fork for excellent tapas) so did not try the restaurant.

I think the hotel is fantastic and our honeymoon was made really special by the lovely staff. Cape Town is a fab destination, we loved the hotel so much we didn't really explore so will return.....

We stayed at the Bay Hotel at the end of our 2 week honeymoon and it was a great end to a wonderful two weeks in South Africa. The staff in this hotel did everything they could to help us, they sent up chocolates and SA sparkling wine to the room when they found out it was our honeymoon and then the next day the room hada heart shaped petals on the bed .

The room itself was overlooking the pool (upgraded for free by the hotel staff) and had a balcony, sitting area, kingsize bed and well equiped bathroom. The room was not huge but big enough for a couple. The pool had a huge number of sun loungers with a number of staff onhand to get you refreshments whenever you want. The hotel has a cocktail bar that serves exellent cocktails anda carafe of nuts (it also has skysports), the Deli serves light snacks and drinks (my wife had a charcuterie platter and I had a lovely salad), there is also a restaurant and a cigar bar. We also had breakfast at the Bay which was excellent. the choice was great, meats, fruits, cereals, breads, pastries, juics and a selection of hot foods to suit most people. The only thing that rankled was at the end of breakfast you are presented with a bill which has a value of 0 (as breakfast was included) and the only reason we could see for this was for you to pay a tip. The staff at breakfast were very friendly and would have been tipped more had it not been for this annoying procedure.

The hotel was over the road from the beach, which was lovely and sandy, however the sea is extremely cold and even the bravest only spent seconds in the water. We did also manage to find some locals to play beach volleyball with on the last day. However there were a few people outside the hotel begging and there were groups of people walking near the beach front who would try and engage you in converstion to get money from you. None of these were intimidating just not what you want as you walk down such a lovely beach front.

We did eat along the front in the Kove,Bungalow and the Paranga all of which were very good albeit slightly different and they just made the stay in Caps Bay all the better. This is one hotel I would happily go back to the staff, rooms, food and location were all excellent and although this was a little bit pricey it was a great way to finish our honeymoon.

This was our fifth anual visit to The Bay for the Cape Argus cycle tour. As usual we were greated with a warm welcome from all the hotel staff from the driver who collected us at the airport right through to the night porter who was clocking off after a long night no doubt. They have made some nice improvements in the rooms, new headboards, bedside tables, lamps etc. and the public areas seem to have had a revamp. Almost all the outside areas are now decked and the place really is looking smart. Once again we enjoyed excellent breakfasts in the restaurant every day, and I have to say that the staff in the restaurant at breakfast time really are first class ambassadours for the hotel. Nothing is too much trouble and the spread is fantastic. Looking forward to returning again in 2011.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a 2 week stay in South Africa, as a bit of luxury before we flew home. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel and were so pleased we spent a bit more than we normally would in order to treat ourselves. The location is great, right on the beach with lots of fantastic restaurants within 2 minutes walk and easy to drive into town or down the coast to Cape Point. We stayed in a suite which was just stunning - very modern and funky decor, separate sitting room, very comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the sea with our own jacuzzi. We felt very spoilt! The swimming pool was lovely and we enjoyed a swim and sunbathe, followed by a walk along the beach most days. They also have a very nice, and reasonably priced, spa. We thought the staff were excellent and very friendly, as well as helpful. As we had a late flight home (10.30pm), we paid £60 for a room we could use during the day after we had checked out that had a single bed and toilet/shower where we stored our luggage and then showered and re-packed before heading to the airport. This made our last day much more enjoyable. If you are looking for some luxury in Cape Town, go here. We can't wait to go back!

Best hotel in Camps Bay. Fantastic location, We stayed for 6 nights after 6 nights on safari, a fabulous ocean view with a back drop of table mountain, what more could you ask for. Could not fault this hotel (and i am very fussy!) Breakfast was beautiful, drinks were very resonably priced and staff very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Treat yourself to a massage it is unbelievably priced and very well worth it! While you are there book at table at "kove" resturant on the main street (say Hi to Roxanne!) Wow the food here was GOOD! Beach is the most beatiful you will ever set foot on. Dont listen to any gossip about trouble with locals all the peopple we met weree very friendly. Can't wait to go back!
