I visited The Bay Hotel again despite the negative views: "why will I never learn" the decor continues to lack inspiration in design and decor. It remains so bland, decorated throughout in a computer beige colour. The check-in staff I have to say are surly and everything did seem to be an effort to them. Sadly for me this is not the hotel it once was with other hotels such as Fire and Ice offering a more interesting experience and certainly more willing and enthusiastic staff. In essence The Bay is a tired hotel now only surpassed in it's lack-lustre appearance by the staff.
The chilly sea breezes that you also get from Camps Bay will be repeated once you get to reception.

Perfect location in Camps Bay, nestled between the mountains and the Atlantic ocean. The bar had delicious cocktails and there was always plenty of space by the multiple pools. Our room was lovely with views out to the sea. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

This was our second stay in 6 months at this hotel, and we will return later this year. Excellent value for money, the service is great without too much fuss. Good beach across the road. A hotel where you can relax and unwind.

My husband and I stayed here in March on the last leg of our honeymoon and it was wonderful. The hotel is luxuroius, has great facilities and is in the perfect location - a stones throw away from the beach and all the bars and restaurants. The pools over look the beach and the trendy camps bay area so relaxing by the pool with a cocktail was just perfect. The breakfasts were fantastic and all the staff were very pleasant.
Our room was a bit small but it didn't bother us too much as we were outdoors most of the time. I would recommend a stay here.

We stayed at The Bay Hotel for 5 nights for our honeymoon. After a long flight (with a 6 hour wait at Istanbul) we felt like we had been travelling for days. On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff and found out we had been upgraded to a Pool Premier Room which was gorgeous and had a fantastic view of the pool, sea and a view of Lion's Head. When we returned to our room they had sprinked our bed with rose petals and left champagne and 2 massive portions of chocolate cake as well as little gifts.

The pool area is really nice with plenty of comfy sunloungers and very unobtrusive staff who bring gorgeous food from the deli and lots of refreshing drinks. The pool is huge and warm. The spa is also very good, we had received complimentary back and shoulder massages from the hotel and I went back for a manicure.

Sundowners in the bar were excellent with a good selection of drinks and great atmosphere. Breakfast was superb with extensive choice of hot breakfasts to order (might explain my weight gain!) and a cold buffet. We went out each night (try the Codfather round the corner or Fork for excellent tapas) so did not try the restaurant.

I think the hotel is fantastic and our honeymoon was made really special by the lovely staff. Cape Town is a fab destination, we loved the hotel so much we didn't really explore so will return.....

We stayed at the Bay Hotel at the end of our 2 week honeymoon and it was a great end to a wonderful two weeks in South Africa. The staff in this hotel did everything they could to help us, they sent up chocolates and SA sparkling wine to the room when they found out it was our honeymoon and then the next day the room hada heart shaped petals on the bed .

The room itself was overlooking the pool (upgraded for free by the hotel staff) and had a balcony, sitting area, kingsize bed and well equiped bathroom. The room was not huge but big enough for a couple. The pool had a huge number of sun loungers with a number of staff onhand to get you refreshments whenever you want. The hotel has a cocktail bar that serves exellent cocktails anda carafe of nuts (it also has skysports), the Deli serves light snacks and drinks (my wife had a charcuterie platter and I had a lovely salad), there is also a restaurant and a cigar bar. We also had breakfast at the Bay which was excellent. the choice was great, meats, fruits, cereals, breads, pastries, juics and a selection of hot foods to suit most people. The only thing that rankled was at the end of breakfast you are presented with a bill which has a value of 0 (as breakfast was included) and the only reason we could see for this was for you to pay a tip. The staff at breakfast were very friendly and would have been tipped more had it not been for this annoying procedure.

The hotel was over the road from the beach, which was lovely and sandy, however the sea is extremely cold and even the bravest only spent seconds in the water. We did also manage to find some locals to play beach volleyball with on the last day. However there were a few people outside the hotel begging and there were groups of people walking near the beach front who would try and engage you in converstion to get money from you. None of these were intimidating just not what you want as you walk down such a lovely beach front.

We did eat along the front in the Kove,Bungalow and the Paranga all of which were very good albeit slightly different and they just made the stay in Caps Bay all the better. This is one hotel I would happily go back to the staff, rooms, food and location were all excellent and although this was a little bit pricey it was a great way to finish our honeymoon.
