“Honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2013 via mobile

We spent 3 nights from our honeymoon in Februry 2013, at room 8, the room was on sea view with private balcony and jacuzzi. It was awesome. The manger his name was Mick. He is so friendly we noised him by our calls, questions and requests and he service us with a big smile. Next time we come to Cape Town we will stay at Sea Castle

Stayed for the first three nights of a 14 day trip along the garden route. very happy with the staff who were exceptionally helpful and polite. Arranged reliable cabs into and out of the city for us during the stay. Breakfast fine, location very good right on the end of the bay with a fabulous view along it from the patio. 3 mins for variety of restaurants. The room had an enormous bed that was very comfortable. We had the room that led straight onto the patio so no view of the sea as there had to be a thick net curtain across the patio doors. Would recommend you avoid that room but others were fine I think from what others staying said.

Dear Barry
Thank you for your review & especially thank you for complimenting the staff.
All our rooms are quite different from one another. The Standard Sea Facing room you stayed, although very comfortable as you attest to, is not everyones cup of tea, but we do have many repeat guests who do in fact request that specific room. It suspect its the proximity to the pool & pool deck that attracts them and also the bathroom (one of our favourites) is also quite unique.
Hope you would consider coming back & experiencing one of our Superior/Classic Suites!
Best regards & thank you for staying with us.

We checked into the hotel with our 5 year old daughter on 30th December, with no plans for New Year's Eve. The hotel had arranged a party at its sister hotel Primi Royal for the evening and we had a great time. If it hadn't been for the staff making the effort to arrange the party for guests who couldn't book into restaurants or party's in the area, we would have spent the evening in our room. The staff were great fun, especially Michael on reception and very welcoming. The hotel itself was of a high standard, we found it clean, the service was excellent and our room (No. 9)was huge with a fantastic view of the sea & The 12 Apostles. The only criticism I could make if I can call it that is that there is no car park at the hotel so you have to park your car outside on the street, however this seems to be standard for the hotels in the area.

Would recommend to someone looking for average comfort, pocket friendly rates and strategic location to the beach, nice restaurants and bars. We had the honeymoon suite to enjoy for 2 nights, and were sorely disappointed by the service, hygiene, food, etc at this hotel! Fortunately it was the last stop on our honeymoon and we could still hold onto memories of the lovely, calming and peaceful boutique beach hotels we'd stayed at in Knysna, Hermanus, Mossel Bay etc.! Parking space is not guaranteed, which can be a bit of a bummer driving round the blocks for a free space after a night out!

This was the last hotel (out of 6) that we stayed in during our 2 week stay in South Africa and spent 3 nights there. Despite its great location, directly opposite the beautiful Camps Bay beach and minutes from great bars and restaurants, we felt that the standards that we had come to expect from 4 star hotels in South Africa, were not met. The room (No 9) was certainly spacious and clean with a great sea view but you had to negotiate several flights of stairs to get to it from the main reception area - certainly not suitable for more elderly/infirm guests. The breakfast area is very cramped - the tables honestly not big enough for 2 people to comfortably eat at and the bar stools were falling apart at the seams. Attention to detail is everything if you want to justify your status. The parking is virtually non existant and we were told to park our car out on the main street below the hotel. On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, would probably not return to this hotel.

This hotel is brilliantly placed for the restaurants and beach in Camps Bay with extremely helpful and friendly staff. We arrived at midnight after a serious delay flying into Cape Town. We had trips booked for the next day but did not know the pick up arrangements. Despite the late hour the receptionist Henry tracked down the tour company and got the details. Breakfasts should have been served from 8.00 but often guests with trips out would turn up at 7.30 to help themselves to cereals etc put out by the night porter. Staff coming on duty between 7.30 and 8.00 started taking orders for cooked breakfasts straightaway and on several occasions we had eaten our cooked breakfast by 8.00. On one occasion we had trip booked with a pick up at 6.30. We had arranged for cereals to be available at 6.00 but when we sat down with our cereals, the night receptionist/ porter offered to make us a sandwich. The sandwich proved to be fried eggs, bacon tomatoes and slices of toast and an apology in case it wasn't up to scratch because he did not normally cook. it was very good.We had chosen not to pay for a sea view but had a spacious room which actually had a view of the sea through a side window along the side of the hotel. The rooms with sea views did have excellent views of the beach/sea and would have been worth the premium.

We stayed here for the first four nights of our honeymoon. Our room was a sea view room and was large, modern and clean. The only downside was that the dividing wall between the bathroom and bedroom was an opague screen and did not go from floor to ceiling. However this was the only minor negative we had. The beach is just across the road and there are ample restaurants within a short walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was continental or cooked and both were more than satisfactory. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and Michael went above and beyond the call of duty in making recommendations (and reservations on our behalf) for our next stay in the Winelands, and he even helped us to plan our full journey to Port Elizabeth.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room for the best views
