“Stunning setting”

Its not often you get to stay in a guest house or hotel and bascially have a whole garden to yourselves. We stayed in the garden suite which opens up into its own private gardens (private but other guests are allowed to come and view but none did) via two separate patio doors. I would recommend this suite to anyone who intends to do a bit of relaxing while also seeing the sites of Cape Town. The private garden itself is beautiful, it has a fish pond, patio with chairs and table and sunbeds in another part of the garden. There is a stream running through the garden and its so beautiful waking up and opening the door to the view of the mountains in the background. The only thing about the room is that the glass gets a lot of condensation. We felt like we had our own place and didnt feel part of the hotel which was great. The host Katrin and assistant Tania were wonderful and offer help whenever needed. The hotel is gated. Breakfast was good but the chef they have was not avilable for the 2 nights that we stayed. This hotel is not in camps bay but we had a car so it didnt matter to us but i wouldnt want the walk to camps bay, would be around 15mins. Oceanview is only a few mins drive from table mountain so its fantastic, and around 15mins drive to the V&A waterfront but a straight road. The cape town tour bus, if you want that, stops in camps bay so not too far away. To sum up, the hotel has a great setting with the wonderful gardens, friendly and helpful staff, they will book anything for you so all you have to do is ask. The personal service is what you get from these south african guest houses.

As a South African visiting Cape Town about twice a year I can honestly say that at last we have found a place that we would love to go back to on our forthcoming visits. The buildings are situated in most beautiful and carefully managed gardens and pathways. The view of the ocean and the Twelve Apostle mountains is mind boggling. An ample and tasty breakfast is served in a lovely room overlooking the swimming pool. We were fortunate to stay in one of the recently re-decorated suite rooms, our even had a kitchen. The room was very comfortably furnished with all amenities anyone could ask for. The bed was king size, very comfortable and the linen was clean and fresh. The guest house is very conveniently situated as reported in previous reviews and being an owner of a lodge myself I would say that it is very well managed. My wife and I are both certainly looking forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to have a good view of the ocean so choice of room would really depend on the avail...

Camps Bay is a great choice for a stay in Cape Town. stayed in the middle of winter but the weather was great for most of our stay. The accommodation is excellent even though we had one of the less luxurious rooms. Breakfast is really good with plenty of choice and will start earlier if wanted. The staff are excellent and very helpful, we had our Robben Island tour booked for us and lots of good advice on where to see Whales near Hermanus. A special thankyou to Tanya's Mum who really looked after us at breakfast and all the rset of the staff.

My husband and I started our honeymoon at the Ocean View Guest House and we weren't disappointed. Our arrival after a very long flight was very friendly and we were suprised with an upgrade. Our suite was fantastic with amazing views over the ocean.

Breakfasts at the Ocean View were great and always served with a smile. The House was beautiful grounds and being only a 10 minute walk from Camps Bay the House is lovely and quiet.

The staff were really friendly and helped us arrange trips, transport and takeaways. The room we had was huge with a very large, comfy bed. The bathroom was well equipped and our room was cleaned every day.

A great place to stay and explore Cape Town.

The Ocean View Guest House was a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect. Just outside of Camps Bay so its a little more quiet, however an easy walk. The location is also central to all the places that one would want to see while in Cape Town. The owners are very nice as is the main housekeeper. This is a guest house, not a hotel; the review that was "terrible" was not accurate and should be taken down. The people that wrote the review were looking for a luxury hotel. This is a guest house and has not been advertised any differently.

We have just returned from 10days at Ocean View House.
Like Nigel who commented earlier, we were given a room which did not match the description of the rooms on the web.We immediately addressed our disappointment with the front of house staff and we were moved.
The location,(a few minutes by car from the main strip)the views ,and the gardens are incredible.
Tania is the front of house encyclopedia of where to go and what to see, nothing was too much trouble.
The team of ladies and gents who work behind the scenes make this a fabulous place to stay, everything was done to a very high standard.
If you are looking for a gem this is it.
We started the day with a wonderful breakfast and ended it watching the amazing sunsets.
