“Amazing time with young children”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Thank you for such a nice time at the Bayleaf.. Already thinking to come back next year.. It is perfectly located, walking distance to the beach, supermarket, post, tennis court, cafés and restaurants... Nice family atmosphere.. Shirley answers all your requests in a matter of seconds... and even precedes your needs or wishes..
(We only rented out the two extra rooms downstairs which the small kitchen as a guesthouse).
You feel at ease and at home at the Bayleaf Villa...as simple as that!

Liked best: Home feeling
Liked least: the small american kitchen corner but still ok..

“Stunning Villa in a fantastic location”
Reviewed 20 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Our family/friends, party of 7 adults chose ‘The Bayleaf ‘in Camps Bay for 9 days as our Base for our son’s wedding on the 28th February 2014 in the Western Cape.
The ‘Bay leaf’ Villa was the perfect location for our party, 5 bedrooms & 5 bathrooms. The bedrooms were very large, beautifully furnished. The kitchen bright and roomy with every conceivable utensil, a spacious dining and living room with emphasis on comfort and space, also a TV room which we did not use. A front garden with ‘Pool ‘and sun beds/chairs, together with secure parking for our Minibus. Virginia is the heart and soul of the Bayleaf, a lovely lady who took care of all our daily laundry, and cleaning. Virginia with her lovely smile had a ‘can do ‘attitude. One of the three ‘fridges developed a fault, Virginia called the proprietor, Shirley Engers, Shirley arrived with a technician within 20 minutes, problem solved. We asked Shirley how much we should pay for daily laundry, Shirley suggested we should pay Virginia 300/400 Rand (€20/27), can you believe it?.. for 9 days, 7 Persons
The ‘Bayleaf Villa ‘is 3 minutes from the beach/promenade, with superb restaurants/supermarket.
Camps Bay is the place to stay, the ‘Bayleaf ‘is the business. just book it, you will not be disappointed. We cannot wait to return to South Africa, a stunning country, with a genuine warm welcome, exceptional value and service. - Jerry O'Riordan & gang!

“Lemon Tree Room”
Reviewed 7 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We stayed at the bayleaf for 4 days in December, the host Shirley was lovely, the accommodation was top quality, we were welcomed by Shirley who settled us in and provided us with everything we needed and more, the location of the Villa is literally 2 minutes away from the beach, and with a vast choice of restaurants within a stones throw. We would happily recommend both the Villa and Shirley and in fact will be revisiting in 2014!!!! if you are in two minds about booking, dont be, both host and room were top notch.

“Unique experience”
Reviewed 28 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We stayed for 6 nights at the Bayleaf in the beautiful Camps Bay Area. On our first morning Shirley the owner took us for a little walk to show us where we were to eat breakfast and show us the beach and recommend her favourite restaurant. Basically we were guests in her villa and she couldn't do enough for us.

“Wonderful little gem that made our stay in Cape Town”
Reviewed 22 December 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights over October half term. It was a perfect base for our many excursions. We had 2 adjoining suites next to the main house which both had kitchenettes so we could make basic drinks and snacks. The rooms were beautifully furnished and it was just like being at home. Shirley's lovely maid was kind enough to do washing for us for a tip so we left for the Garden route with suitcases full of clean clothes! Shirley was a wonderful hostess answering our many questions and giving us some tips on what we could do.

We will definitely come back here when we are next in Cape Town.

“Great and warm guest house in Camps Bay great location”
Reviewed 6 December 2013 for a stay in November 2013

I travelled to CT with my sister end of November 2013 and we stayed at The Bayleaf guest house in the Orange tree room with kitchen facilities and we really enjoyed it. Shirley, the owner was terrific, very helpful, fun and nice. Our room had a connecting door with the other smaller room (Lemon tree room) and you can hear the other guests when there, felt a bit like flat share and we were aware of the sounds and talking to loud so we would not disturb. The room was kept clean, we did find the bathroom not so clean at times. Shirley had two nice dogs. There were very nice rooms on the top floor of the house, called the villa, can be rented for a large group of people, had three bedrooms, very nice. We will come back next year to stay and rent both rooms (Orange and Lemon) so we get the lower floor to ourselves and not having to be door to door with other guests. We felt save in the Camps Bay area, although just a small lock on the front door and no fencing. (as most houses has a bit more security in the area) Location was fab, only 4 minutes walk to the beach, pick n pay supermarket and all the great restaurants located on the beach front.

“Wonderful experience in an ideally suited location”
Reviewed 7 July 2013 for a stay in August 2012

The Bay Leaf is a fantastic place to stay and makes a great place for
exploring Cape Town. The house is a beautiful, well-maintained, and
modern building. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staying there
doesn't feel like an impersonal hotel. It feels like a warm home. They
are thoughtfully appointed with all the things you might need (e.g.
beach towels, maps and guides, tea) etc. The self-catering is a
wonderful draw, and provides a great option for those who do not wish
to take every meal at a restaurant while on vacation. The grounds are
quiet and well-kept. In short, it's easy to relax and feel at peace
while staying here.

The B&B; has an amazing location close to the main strip in Camps Bay.
You can find a grocery store, pharmacy, and lots of restaurants and
shopping. Across the street is the beach, just a short walk. There is
ample parking across the street. It's easy to head both into the
downtown area, Sea Point, and further afield.

Finally, the staff is extremely efficient and friendly, and the
proprietors are wonderful to chat with and ready to help in any way.

The Bay Leaf is a terrific place to stay while in Cape Town!
