“Saved us in Camps Bay!”
Reviewed 25 November 2012 for a stay in November 2012

After booking in to a horrible apartment in Camps Bay our lovely travel agent moved us to Apostle at Funkey - Camps Bay. She knew and trusted the owners and apartment - and was absolutely right. The owners are so hospitable and a wonderful example of South African hospitality.

The photo's on their website do not do the apartment justice - it has lovely views, is extremely comfortable and has every amenity required, and the hidden beaches just nearby are a delight. It was close enough to walk to the main strip of Camps Bay and the main beach but was not affected by traffic noise (Camps Bay has a high traffic thoroughfare)

Lovely clean pool. Views of the 12 apostles at night was just spectacular. Hospitality was wonderful. Staff looked after us and the apartment beautifully. We can't speak highly enough of this place.

(plus for those looking for a place for a small group you can book Adriatic next door and have both to enjoy. Perfect.)

“A perfect Cape Town retreat”
Reviewed 8 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

We stayed at Apostle at Funkey Place with our kids, who are 9 months old and 3 yrs old, and it was perfect. The accommodation worked well and the rooms are all beautifully appointed and serviced daily. The views front and back were stunning and the owners - Nada and Adrian - could not have been more helpful in making our kids feel at home, ensuring we had everything we needed. It was a perfect base for our holiday - easy to walk down to Camps Bay beach or explore the rest of Cape Town. Would highly recommend.

“The best”
Reviewed 24 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Apostle at Funkey is a stunning self contained villa with a lovely cooling pool. The rooms are extremely spacious and well maintained. Standards are high and the property is spotlessly clean. The beds are very comfortable, and there is a small veranda to the front where you can experience some spectacular sunsets. Looking at the breathtaking Table Mountain scenery whilst showering has to be a reason to rent on it's own!
The owners, Nada and Adrian, are so obliging, nothing seems too much trouble for them and their staff are trustworthy and dilligent.
Security at Apostle is evident, but we have never felt unsafe in Bakoven and surrounding areas and it is very peaceful. A 2 minute car journey or a 10 minute walk away is Camps Bay where the restaurants are fabulous and the Caipirinhas are unbelievably good!!
We will definitely be back.

Found this place after trawling round the web, we received detailed directions to the property, highlighting the costal or mountain road which were very easy to follow. The location is just down from the busy Camps bay area in Bakoven. Set only 1 road up from the costal road. Adrian & Nada were there to meet us and help us in with the luggage. The complex is entered through a set of gates & a heavy outer door, then up the steps to the side of the house. Any visitor with a problem getting up steps may find this a problem, but then the whole of Cape Town is centred on a mountain and steps are unavoidable in this city. Our calves feel fantastic after a week of Clifton Beach. The apartment is to a high standard and was spotless throughout. The 2nd bedroom precedes the master bedroom so is ideal for families with children. The master bedroom has the view over the ocean, and its own walk in wardrobe leading to the bathroom with a corner bath & double shower. There is also a 2nd bathroom off the lounge area. The Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need. The hob & oven are set as a freestanding unit on the top of the work surface; this was adequate for breakfast and the 1 time we ate in the evening. There is no washing machine in the apartment, however the daily maid service will wash & iron anything you need. There is normally a £5 charge for this; however we were given it complimentary. The property has windows everywhere each with a view of either Lions Head, the ocean or table mountain to the rear. We found it fascinating watching the tablecloth roll over the top most nights. My favourite was from the double shower with head height views of lions head & the ocean.

The outside area was limited due to the new plunge pool being added the week prior to our arrival. It made a great way to cool off in the 35deg heat. We like to sit out in the evening & Adrian let us use the pool and large garden in the adjoining 1 bed apartment whilst it was available.

We arrived on a Sunday and were in need of a local wine store, not realising they all shut at 3pm on a Sunday. Adrian & Nada gave us wine from there store, which made sure our 1st sun downer on the front balcony was relaxing; we spent a fantastic week here, both Adrian & Nada are perfect host’s who are there when you need them, they were very generous when we said we had forgotten to bring an umbrella for the beach, they lent us there own umbrella & 2 beach chairs. We also liked the fact that you had someone with local knowledge on hand to recommend restaurants & places to visit. You must try the ostrich fillet at the Hussar grill restaurant within walking distance. Another must do, when the cape doctor is not blowing, is sundowners on Bakoven rocks, one of the nights we went down a group of drummers were there with drums & didgeridoo’s. It all made for a stunning sunset.

Over all I would rate our experience 10/10. A great location, fantastic hosts, would defiantly stay again & highly recommend it.
