“Heavenly stay”
Reviewed 7 June 2012

We stayed for two nights in the suite next to the Presidential Suite. It was spacious with amazing views of the ocean. The hotel although 10 years old is still in great shape and the furnishings were still all great. The room (109) had a living area with mini bar, TV, DVD player and seating for 4 people. The bathroom has a large shower, bath and double vanity. The bathroom is stocked with wonderful soaps, body lotion and lots more. The towels are large and fluffy. There are also slippers and gowns in the room.

The bedroom has an amazing view with a large balcony which has two chairs and a table. There is plenty cupboard space plus a desk and a safe. The whole suite is air-conditioned plus has under floor heating for chilly weather.

We found the spa to be out of this world and well worth a visit. The therapists were brilliant and I had one of the best massages ever. They also have private pools for your use however we did not get the chance.

We at breakfast at the Azure restaurant which has great views and the most amazing choice of food. Fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal all the way to oysters & champagne not to mention the hot breakfast. Something for everyone.

We had dinner at the Azure on our second night and enjoyed the great service and interesting menu. There are two menus to choose from, both have varied items, some South African dishes such as Springbok were available as well as Cape Malay curry.

This hotel is a cut above the rest for service and class. Pricey but well worth it.

On Saturday, 2nd of June 2012 we enjoyed sundowners and snacks at The Leopard Bar. We are all in the hospitality, tourism and marketing sectors and it was so great to experience the service from the bar personel. There are indeed establishments that know what their guests want. Thank you, we'll be back soon!

We stayed at the 12 Apostles for 5 nights in March and had a fantastic time. While we did not spend much time at the hotel during the day (due to our busy tour schedule) we thoroughly enjoyed every minute we did spend at the hotel. Full breakfast was included in our rate, so we enjoyed a wonderful spread of fresh fruits, breads, potatoes, fish, bacon, eggs, made to order omelets, etc. each morning at Azure (great dining indoors or outdoors). A couple of evenings, we did high tea at the Leopard Bar, the sunsets were breathtaking and the tea cakes delightful! Sunset at the Leopard Bar is a popular spot, so get a table on the balcony before 5pm.

While, the hotel lobby, main restaurant & bar (carpeting and furnishings) could use some sprucing up - the attentiveness and service of the staff make you forget the outdated decor. If there is anything that you need - simply ask for it and they will try to accommodate you! Our room was a little small, and we were immediately moved to a more spacious room. When I return to South Africa, I will definitely stay at the 12A again, and the next time I will spend more time enjoying the hotel spa and services! I recommend using the hotel's free shuttle to/from town, and planning your day so that you can return to the 12A for at least one sunset and a late dinner & movie.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upgrade when you arrive. Also, 12A honors United Presidential card and Amex Platinum...

While I am unable to afford the accommodation, I do love the bar menu at this hotel. Absolute best is the Italian Mojito. I am certain there is nothing Italian about the drink, although it looks pretty good, tastes good too and short of having its own designer glass, this has to be my best drink. The great view and the heaters outside by the balcony create an incredible atmosphere for sundowners. If you want to see the sunset, right by the sea with an incredible view, this is the bar to go for sundowners. As for the uniforms, while I appreciate their appreciation of times gone-by, they look awful on overweight hotel staff with tummies protruding under the belt. Great idea, however, not aesthetically appealing on the staff, not flattering.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer,

We are delighted to receive a review from you indicating the enjoyable time you had at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa.

Situated at the water’s edge of a marine reserve we are privileged to enjoy frequent whale and dolphin sightings along the Atlantic Ocean. There is indeed no better spot than the Leopard Lounge at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa to enjoy cocktails while you are overlooking the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Please note that the same level of care is taken to ensure a similar memorable experience at our other properties Bushman’s Kloof and The Oyster Box which form part of the wider Red Carnation Family.

The team at The Twelve Apostles looks forward to your next visit.

With such a choice of luxury hotels in the Cape Town area, visitors and locals are spoilt for choice. A 2 night stay at the 12 Apostles came at the end of our trip around the Western Cape and it proved to be a great choice for us!
You can usually tell the strength of a good restaurant in the number of locals who swear by it...and I guess that goes for hotels too. We arrived on Mothers Day weekend, and the place was buzzing with happy families treating the ladies in their lives to afternoon teas and dinners. The hotel had great offers on to entice people through the doors, but having spoken to a number of guests it seems they don't really have to do this as it's always such a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
We dined in their Azure restaurant on our first evening, which definitely lived up to it's reputation. I believe they are looking to take it as far as they can to try and become one of Cape Town's prime fine dining restaurants - I would say they are almost there, although would stress that they need to ensure they keep the relaxed vibe and not become stuffy.
I was most impressed by the breakfast..... As well as a huge choice of hot and continental food, the oysters and champagne floated my boat! A leisurely breakfast on the patio overlooking the sea was really hard to beat and set us up perfectly for our days.
The staff at the 12A really contributed to make our trip so special - word got out that we had just got engaged and we arrived back to our room one evening to find a celebratory bottle of fizz, with a lovely hand written note from the hotel team. When I arrived from breakfast the following morning 2 of the ladies who worked in the restaurant asked to see the engagement ring! All girls know that kind of attention feels quite special!
We cannot thank 12A enough for looking after us on our recent stay. I would like to give special thanks to Brett the hotel manager, who showed us some superb hospitality (the call to our room to tell us to get to the balcony so as not to miss the beautiful sunset was a great touch!)
If you are looking for something a little different, and something unique or special, you won't go wrong with a stay at this hotel.

From check in til departure one can tell why this is one of the top hotels in the Cape if not the country. We went on the spur of the moment to get a quick getaway and were informed of the value for money couples offering, which is a seriously good deal.
The staff were knowledgeable about the product, were very pleasant and welcoming and were most keen to show off and be proud of the hotel. Without exception, all of the staff made us feel welcome. The decor and room comfort were top quality. All of the amenities were of the highest quality and the food and drink service was outstanding. We had dinner in Azure and it was very well presented, well cooked and the service was excellent. Breakfast was even better and the choice was comprehensive with the fresh fruit being awesome.
My wife spent some time in the spa (one hour turned into half a day!) and was very impressed, although the massage was a bit firm and no amount of asking reduced the pressure.

The only disappointment was with the noise level. It seems as if the wooden walls are nothing more than a sheet of ply. Whether it was rooms adjacent to us, the corridor, or the room above, we could hear everything quite clearly. Hearing the noise of late arrivals and early departures with trolley case wheels over the wooden floor made for a restless sleep.

Room Tip: Top floor and at the end of the passage would be a good spot.

A quick thank you to 12 Apostles, and all the staff involved, for our nights’ accommodation. We had a fantastic weekend last Saturday and enjoyed all the great facilities that the 12 Apostles has to offer. We very much enjoyed the Spa. I could say that this definitely is a good marketing tool for the hotel, as we are now more familiar with what you have to offer and will keep you in mind when making recommendations to visiting guests.
(1 nights free accom and breakfast won in a competition)

Room Tip: We had a room with a sea as well as mountain view, which was great.
