“Great service and beautiful views”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

This hotel has a seriously great reputation, and when you get there you can certainly see why. It is a little more secluded than Table Bay Hotel which is a similar level but on the main promenade. The service was top notch, the concierge helped us pick the best wineries and make perfect food reservations with the best views, and the room had a very high end cozy feel. Definitely book ahead if you want to eat dinner at their restaurant as it fills up quickly. Certainly one of the most beautiful places to stay in Capetown.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Twelve Apostles hotel & Spa with our potential future guests.

One of our biggest advantages is our wonderful location, close enough to the city with our complimentary shuttle but yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre on one of the most breath-taking coastal drives.

Our wonderful staff including the concierge, who can just about arrange anything in Cape Town is another reason why guests fall in love with our property. I am very pleased that you were able to experience our warm and genuinely friendly service.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future.

With warm regards

I came to this hotel not knowing what to expect and was blown away by every aspect of my stay. The hospitality from every staff member was incredible from our arrival to our departure. The staff made us feel very welcome and ensured our comfort of utmost importance catering for our every need. The design, decor, attention to detail and arrangement of the many unique rooms and facilities were mesmerizing and beautiful. The hotel itself is an attraction, it has a character to it that cannot be built but could have only grown over the years into what it is today - A magnificent and brilliant work of art. The epitome of class and sophistication. To the staff at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa I say, what a great job you all do everyday, you should be proud. Thank you.

We stayed several nights here as part of a Lion World Travel tour of South Africa. It was top quality (reportedly the Obamas stayed there on their visit to S. Africa), with great service, food, atmosphere. The distance from town was the only drawback, though the hotel provides hourly shuttle service (we shared taxis). One must either have their activated cell phone or borrow a phone in town to call the shuttle to retrieve you. There wasn't ready access to the spa services (already book by the prior day). Staff were excellent - accommodating, wanting to please. The room was quite clean, average/small size, nice amenities (slippers, nice toiletries, bathroom candle, complimentary large specialty/gourmet soap bars on request with a selection of scents.
Great buffet breakfast (can be included in room rate; ours was) with views overlooking the ocean.
We hired a driver to take the 4 of us on all day excursions, which was convenient and a savings from separately purchasing similar individual pre-packaged tours of the Cape Town region. We also went into the Cape Town and took the Hop-On, Hop-Off shuttle one day and enjoyed that. The ticket office and bus stop is near the downtown/waterside center tourist information office.
We enjoyed this as our intro to Cape Town and S. Africa and loved the pampering there. We thought it the best choice in the area and a highlight of our trip. If we return, I suspect we would stay closer to the main downtown/waterfront area of Cape Town to experience that and forego the drives back and forth.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at the Twelve Apostles hotel & Spa with our potential future guests.

How wonderful to read that you had such a memorable stay with us and in Cape Town. Our location for many is perfect and we know how important it is to have regular access to the city. Our complimentary shuttle that runs from 08h00 to 21h30 is way of keeping you connected but fully take on board the fact that should you not have pre-booked the return transfer you may have some difficulty in calling the hotel if you do not have roaming on your phone.

Breakfast is definitely a highlight of every day which is always included in all our rates. Don’t forget that it also includes oysters and sparkling wine and can’t think of a better way to start the day.

We would love to have the opportunity and look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Africa.

With warm regards

I recently stayed as a solo traveler during my first trip to Cape Town. Every one from from the General Manager on down (including the drivers/concierge/bartender/pool attendant/sommelier/manager of Azure/head concierge/reservation assistant) made me feel like my every need and reasonable want would be addressed. I felt like I landed in paradise.

Upon my arrival I first mellowed out in the spa. After my room was ready, I spent time reading a novel in the hammock overlooking the pool and the ocean. I made arrangements to be transported to the Roundhouse for lunch and traveled to Camps Bay to walk around the beach a bit. I had a drink to watch the sunset and joined the staff at Azure for dinner. I even made time for a picnic and watched a movie in the cinema room. I also traveled around Chapman's Peak and to the Hout Bay Saturday market.

Next time ask for the Presidential Suite if it is available...

Wonderful to read that you had such a great stay with us at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa. We pride ourselves in our genuinely friendly but yet professional service which you experienced and starts from the top all the way down.

I am glad you had a chance to enjoy a number of the activities we have available and in particular our hiking trail with picnic spots which is very unique. Nothing like being in nature with only the mountains and ocean for company.

We look forward to welcoming you back and will keep the presidential suite as an option for you.

The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa was part of our tour in South Africa arranged thru Lion World Tours in Toronto by agent Mary Ellen Chown. The hotel was excellent, first class. All the staff were exceptional and very attentive from the moment we arrived in their treatment of our party. Every time they assisted us their response was "my pleasure". Any special requests were handled in a professional and timely manner. The food was delicious, served as though we were of the rich and famous. We set up a wine tour, Russell was our driver and tour guide he went above and beyond explaining the area, customs, wine, and people. The housekeeping staff was also exceptional we were fortunate to have a young lady her name was Pretty. She made us very comfortable and well stocked. The entire stay was amazing.

We visit Cape Town every year from January to March. We have stayed at most hotels and this year decided to stay at the 12A. We were not disappointed. The staff are highly trained, professional and welcoming at all times. The team is lead by an exceptional General Manager, Mr. Horst Frehse, who leads by example and is always available. The concierge, Masood Sadulla is excellent.
The monthly wine tasting dinner in The Azure restaurant is without doubt an evening not to be missed. The food is outstanding and the wines and presentation flawless.
One shortfall was that the Leopard Bar was inundated by casual visitors at evenings and weekends. This limited both space and service to residents.
We would certainly recommend this hotel and intend to return very soon.

Room Tip: Our mountain facing suite was excellent, quiet and comfortable.

I will ensure to share your wonderful comments with all our staff and in particular Masood. He is definitely one of our stars in the hotel and has a great relationship with all our guests. He is also the person to get you into any restaurant or activity that might be fully booked.

Our monthly wine dinners are always a great success and we partner with some of the best wine farms in the country. Good food and great wine is a recipe for a great night.
