“Camps Bay lovely spot”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

My favorite spot in Cape Town for many years everything within easy reach, Brighton court offers fantastic views of the beach and, the twelve apostles and Lions head. Victoria road is THE strip where everyone goes for sun downers.

We stayed in a three bedroom apartment (no. 14) in the Brighton Court section of the resort, and found it to be ideal for our needs. It is located a few metres from the beach, right next to the Theatre on the Bay, and close to the Pick n Pay supermarket. Very, very convenient location.

The apartment was well furnished, clean and spacious. Only one bathroom for the three bedrooms, but this was not a problem for our family of four.

Room Tip: Make sure you get one of the sea facing apartments.

Great place to stay! Excellent location, could not wish for more! Superb views from 6 Brighton Court, would recommend to request prior arrival.
There are plenty of restaurants to eat and enjoy lovely sunsets.
We used taxi service to get to Waterfront initially, but then discovered rikki (local mini buses) that are run by locals, and it worked out so much cheaper and faster to get where you need. R8 per person is absolutely a bargain, and therefore they are so quick and reliable, don't be afraid, very genuine. We thought these might be dangerous in the beginning, but nothing like that, trust me - go for it, will save you a fortune.
We visited places like table mountain, Robben Island, Aquarium, Cape of the good hope, Kirstenbosh Botanic gardens etc. All lovely places to see and would recommend. Also take an open bus tours ( hop on off service), but buy 2 day ticket instead of one - you get Signal Hill sunset tour for free that runs from Waterfront 6pm and free canal boat ride. You also get two routes to enjoy - blue and red route. Red takes you to town museums , markets , table maintain. Blue gives you an opportunity to embrace the whole cape town and Houts Bay (seal island optional). We took a day tour to Invendor Safari, and I would not recommend. Will specify the reasons on Invendor Safari reviews. IMPORTANT: always negotiate on prices on every tour - DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE! We managed to save over R2000 by negotiating several day tours.

Room Tip: Book 6 Brighton Court if staying with children. It is a ground floor apartment, very nice views, spa...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Camps Bay Resort. The location, very close to the beach, is excellent. The accommodation was quite bijou, but was clean, comfortable, and contained all that I needed for a relatively short stay of four days. Staff were very helpful and went the extra mile in finding me a place to shower before I left (I had a late flight and had checked out of the room). Admittedly the Reception is not manned 24/7, but arrival instructions and contact numbers are made very clear in the pre-arrival materials that I received well in advance, so I don't think this should be held against the establishment. The swimming pool/plunge pool area is nicely looked after. All in all the Camps Bay Resort represents excellent value for money and I would highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed in a two bedroomed apartment about 50 metres from the sea. Self catering set up, good kitchen and living area and one bathroom plus ensuite.

Dont think we used the kitchen as we worked our way down all of the bars and restaurants on the front , all of which were great. The property is part of a complex of third party owned apartments , all individually owned but managed by Camps Bay Resort.

Can't fault the organisation of booking in, cleaning, checking out. We had a few maintenance issues, which were fixed pretty quickly - our specific property had a few leaky windows but no big deal really, particularly as you get into the summer - I might be being harsh here, but this is the only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5

The apartment had lots of room and the view straight into the bay through a turret style window - fantastic. Location spot on for eating out and opposite a Pick N Pay for food (but you need to buy alcohol from out of the resort due to licensing restrictions so be warned). I also went for a run along the bay - lots of people doing same and also local bike hire if your legs have gone or you fancy biking up some very big hills....

We parked on the road with no problems although you can pay about 80r per day to go on their enclosed car park. No idea how much we paid as part of a bundle but though the wifi charges were a bit OTT although they gave us some free MBs due to our leaky windows. Did have to buy a beer next door and use their free wifi so no real hardship there ....

Camps Bay is well located for most things in that area if you have a car and the area does feel safe at night so we would have no problem in going back - we were a party of 2 adults and a 15 yr old and 17 yr old

Room Tip: Make sure it faces the sea - they probably all do

Excellent location, everything is walking distance away Beach and shops and Restaurants. Although either return when still light or daft as it sounds get a cab!

It is a bit of a strange set up as the reception is not always manned and you have to phone to get someone to come out. So we decided to check out the local area on the PC in reception only to find no Internet.

We had two rooms and both were OK - the room over looking the sea was superb the one at the back was very poor.

The Good part first. Excellent location, everything a walking distance away, including supermarket, pharmacy and various restaurants. Good value for the money. Clean and quite. Some small nags. Upon arrival there was no one in the reception. It took me a minute to find the board that told me to call a number for the person in charge to come to the gate. He did come in a couple of minutes but I had placed a long distance call to him as I did not have a Local south African line. Placing a buzzer or intercom would be more friendly. The computer allocated for internet use in the reception area was not working, but whenever I went to the reception the staff would let me use theirs for any amount of time, although this put pressure on me, as I felt I was getting in their way. There were some tiles in the mosaic in the room that had fallen off and left unrepaired and the apartment door had no method of keeping it closed except placing your own key in it from the iside to keep it closed
