Located near St. Georges Mall in the centre of the city, it is beyond walking distance to most site seeing locations. However, there is a open top bus service, with a stop a short walk away, that will take you all over the city. I found this to be the easiest and cheapest way of getting around. A ticket lasts all day and there are no limits how many times you can get on / off.
The tickets cost R120, about 12 pounds on todays exchange rate.

There are a number of restaurants around the hotel and bars, especially on Long St, ranging in price and quality. So there is plenty to do, day and night in the city.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful and assisted in arranging days trips and airport shuttles and giving local directions and tips.
That reminds me, if you want an airport shuttle to the hotel, e-mail the hotel in advance. They will arrange it for you, and the driver will meet you with your name on a plaque. It was R250 each way.
I am keen runner, and was disappointed at the location for getting in a good run. However, the reception staff arranged for me to use the gym at the nearby Mandolin Place, free of charge for 2 sessions. That really surprised me.

There is a bar in the hotel, which is run also by the reception staff. So in busy times queues can develop and it is not very well stocked ( no red wine )

The room was quite small, but clean. Pleasingly there was a safe in the room, as well as multi-nationality plugs.
I realised later on that the TV remote did not work and the dial to control the air con was broken. Small things overall, especially considering I was hardly every there, but let down the standard the hotel wishes to attain.

If I stayed in Cape Town again, Based on location alone, I would probably stay some where nearer to the beach. But that may put up the price or lower the standard.

Enjoy the city, I did.

Great hotel and found on trip adviser. Hotels rooms are very smart and modern and comfortable. Breakfst is plentiful with rolls, croissants, cold meats and hams, egg and bacon, juices, cereals, fresh fruit so you can fill up. Extremely good value for money. helpful staff. Main problem is the parking as others have said. The actual car park is in a pedestrian mall - you go between two rows of bollards. There are 13 spaces for hotel which has over 100 rooms and hotel charges 50 rand per day. Local parking is available but not cheap if you leave it during the day. The overnight parking there is cheap but finishes at 6.00am - so be warned. We were lucky and got a space in hotel car park the second day we were there and there were spaces when we left. I guess that in peak season it may be more difficult.
Hotel staff warn you not to go out in evening without a taxi but at tourist office woman told us it was quite safe as long as you stay in main streets. Also, taxis cost a olt more if summoned by hotel. we walked around long street in eves and never felt threatened - loads of security personnel everywhere.

This is the ubiquitous holiday inn express... the same in every country in the world and this one is no different. However that standard is ok and it is a good safe bet in a good(ish) location. if we were visiting again we would stay at the Waterfront Holiday Inn.
Pre-book a car parking space or arrive early in the day or you'll end up paying a fortune round the corner. Also check your room when you check-in, we had to move twice due to faults with air con and bathroom.
Safe bet in a central location (you can walk to Waterfront) but nothing special

Good value for money and the staff were very helpful. Great for exploring the city during the day. But taxi's were needed for the evening and to try out resataurants but these were cheap.

The hotel is very central, the rooms are modern, fresh and roomy and well - priced for expensive Cape Town. The breakfast is varied and there is parking in the basement. There are several great restaurants in close proximity - Riboville for great, if pricey food and Bukhara just up the road. The staff at the front desk were great.
