The hotel is more luxury and five star out side rather than inside. Our bedroom was more like a 3 star hotel and the bed was not comfortable. We were on 7th floor and internet connection was almost dead. The breakfast buffet was also very simple. Overall the stay was enjoyable and the staff were friendly.

Thank you for your feedback and for your positive comments.
I am however sorry to learn of your opinion of the comfort of the bed and your feedback regarding the internet. This is certainly not how we wish to be remembered.
Please be advised that our breakfast buffet is a continental buffet with the added choice of an a la carte service for a hot breakfast. I am sorry that this was not to your satisfaction.

Our room was fantastic. However, little things kept the fifth star away. The bed was actually uncomfortable. Both the showers were funky. One did not have cold water one morning, we stayed seven nights. Instead of body lotion, shampoo and conditioner, we got three body lotions.
The staff was excellent. The restaurant served a world class steak and had an excellent wine list.
Would I go back, probably not

I worry about hotels i have never stayed at before, i have read reviews and been recommended this hotel by a few people. I needed to call the hotel for some requirements, Luckily i picked up the phone to Jesse, she was so kind and helpful and really went out of her way to service my requests. Based on her, i presume the rest of the staff at the hotel will all be as hospitable and as well trained as Jesse. Thanks again and can't wait for my vist.

Hi, we are appreciative of the services rendered to us in terms of the check in and restaurant as well as spa services.

However, we are alarmed by the fact that the safe in the room was not safe. We stayed 3 nights there. As a matter of precaution not to bring our valuables out, we put our valuables such as our passport and a bag filled with cash in the safe. We had used the safe for the first two nights and it was fine with our password. However, at our last night on 22 February 2014, we realised that the safe was unable to open normally as it seems to have already open before and the existing passcode does not work .We had to ask the Manager to come and help us open at the night around 2200. We saw that the physical items in was intact (i.e the bag and passport) so we assumed everything is fine. However, when we left the hotel to the next destination, we realised that some portion of the money (totalled to 500USD) went missing. It is highly suspecting that the housekeeper on 22 February had open the safe with his master key. We would advise the hotel to open an investigation to prevent other customers having the same incident from happening again. Thanks.

This property had its pros and cons. We decided to make this our last stop on our honeymoon to South Africa. We wanted to check out the waterfront area (our previous accommodations were central cape), have a luxury hotel to relax, enjoy and also check out the views and pool/bar on their roof deck.

Pros: The property was clean, the staff (for the most part) were very friendly and polite. It was a good waterfront location. You were not in the thick of the touristy craziness, but right near there to check everything out. They also have a shuttle service that can bring you around to different places in a 5 mile radius, which we really liked. Also -- great views from their roof deck. Nice breakfast spread in the morning, and ready to order/be made options.

Cons: We arrived excited for some roof deck pool relaxation. They neglected to inform us beforehand, or at check in that this would be closed due to a 21st birthday party. 21st birthday party, really? At glance it does not look like the kind of place that would have these kinds of events -- or shut down a major amenity their guests are paying for, for this. We later found out there was a portion of the roof deck open (not the pool part) where we could have enjoyed drinks. The waiter escorted us out, and said he was get us a menu. He led us on a path to no where and we never saw him again. It was very weird, frustrating and confusing.

We were promised "views" and a high floor. They put us on the 3rd floor (1st floor of hotel rooms) with a view of a building next door. We could see nothing. They later moved us to the 8th, after another mishap.

We decided to take the 6pm shuttle to central cape for dinner. We made the reservation in person with concierge, and on the phone. We also received a phone call confirming that the we were on the shuttle. We were down there at 6pm, and the shuttle had already taken off. We checked with concierge and they did even have us down for the appt.

While the shuttle was a nice perk of the hotel, it was a mess. The shuttle was so unorganized, and was messed up every time we tried to use it.

The service at the restaurant was extremely slow -- friendly, nice, but painfully slow.

We had many problems at this hotel -- each time the staff was friendly (for the most part), and TRIED to be accommodating. They just appear to be very unorganized, and not knowing whats going on at their own property. The hotel is large, but not that big. With only 80 rooms, and a ton of staff, you think they would have it together a lot more.

Was very disappointed, as we thought this was going to be a "5 bubble" experience.

Thank you for your constructive comments and for taking the time to share this with us. I am sorry that we let you down on this occasion and that we did not fully meet all your expectations, especially the inconvenience of the pool deck being closed for a private function during your stay with us.
Please be assured that all your feedback has been discussed at length with my management team and measures have been put in place to avoid a repeat where possible. Particularly relating to the restaurant service, the requests not being actioned and the shuttle service. This is certainly not the normal standard here at Cape Royale.

Once again my apologies for the shortfalls you have noted. Should you be back in Cape Town, please do contact me directly and I will ensure a marked improvement is noted.
