“Delicious sushi in surprising location”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

Super sushi. Really tasty and fresh. The restaurant is not the most obvious to find - neither is the setting the most elegant. This does not, however, really matter, since food made up for it.

“Sushi Heaven!”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

One of the best dining experiences. Focus is on the food. Tasty, beautifully presented. The salmon roses are a work of art Abundant portions (can never over order sushi though). Enjoyed the total experience, loved the 'authentic plain straightforward' decor and atmosphere. Definitely be back.

“Fun place for sushi”
Reviewed 1 July 2013

It is fun finding places like Minato. It really is a "hole in the wall" - one enters via a gated hole, down the passageway and in to Minato. As other reviewers observe, this is not a pretentious place, but the staff are friendly and the food fresh. Minato has an eclectic selection of hand rolls, several of which fill one up quite quickly, unlike many sushi restaurants that serve smaller portions of their rolls. My companion and I enjoyed the place and the food. As I mentioned, this was a fun find.

“Best Flavours”
Reviewed 8 June 2013

Japanese cuisine is my favourite and most sushi places I've eaten focus on tradition and freshness. This is one of the few which create beautiful flavour combinations. I highly recommend trying their huge variety of rolls as they are absolutely delicious. It's more contemporary style than traditional but the chef is clearly skillful.
The prices are fair, not too expensive and of course not cheap either. The place is a little hard to find and inside they did a good job to make a very old house feel more Japanese. I would definitely go back for more!

“This Sushi is Really good”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

So it doesn't get any less pretentious than this. The entrance is like a scene from a Tarantino movie and the ordering process makes one refer to Sienfeld's Soup Nazii episode, but wow does this place rock.

Best Sushi in Cape Town, without a doubt. It's quite a paradox, the decor in very unassuming but the sushi is on another level, you simply don't expect it. Service is a little slow, but they explain that upfront so the expectation is set at the beginning, so you don't mind at all. It just works on so many levels. Try the Crying Rolls, for the brave Wasabi addicts.
