If you prefer your entertainment sophisticated yet saucy, there is no better venue in Cape Town than Gate69, home to Cathy Specific (Brendan van Rhyn), South Africa's Queen of the Skies, and her Trolley Dollies, Holly (Christopher Dudgeon) and Molly (Rudi Jansen). Presented in the format of dinner theatre (before the show Cathy and the Dollies also double up as your friendly yet professional waitrons under the guidance of the beautiful Luanna Schonfeld), the show changes every few months, the most recent being an adult pantomime with the "Three Little Pigs" as its theme. As it is obviously not a children's story, gather your friends to come and meet Milly, Tilly and Willy and the dreaded but cute Big Bad Wolf for an evening of hilarious fun. Your mezze is set out on a lazy Susan on each table and includes delectable patés and other snacks, topped off by a decadent tequila ice-cream cone after the show. A full bar is available downstairs before and after the show and for the meal there is a good selection of South African wines available, sparkling or otherwise. Gate69, as the name indicates, is not for prudes and puritans, Life's too short, so stop huffing and puffing and just go!

Cathy and the Trolley Dollies did not disappoint. Definitely the highlight of my recent CT trip. Thank you to the theater for providing a wonderful dinner, funny and brilliant entertainment and just a really wonderful time. And the purple ice cream was delish! x

I had heard wonderful things about Gate69 and decided that I should definitely give it a try. I phoned a few friends and got a group together. We had the best time. I would definitely encourage anyone visiting Cape Town or staying here to go. It is money well spent. Haven't enjoyed a night out so much in a long time. And as a local in Cape Town I know there is so much to choose from, but this is definitely a place that stands out. I will be back.

Gate 69 is a highly rated experience. From the welcome to the food - to the show. All exceptional. It is a must do evening.
Only uncomfortable side is the bar staff's ongoing cackling about have "a round of tequilas".
