“Leaving that place makes you wanna cry!!”
Reviewed 1 February 2012

We IMMEDIATELY felt at home.... the interior is just sooo nice, with an area to hang out and a very cozy bar. Close to table mountain, lions head, long street,... the whole shabam. And more importantly, very close to RAFIKI'S, UNDISPUTED the best bar in Cape Town. REALLY TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! Just nice people who like to party, and great food is served. None of the dodgy long street vibes and sometimes dito crap food. The backpackers is also close to the better restaurants. If they still have them, ask for the free bottle of wine coupon to the restaurant where you can eat braaied crocodile, warthog, ostrich,... you dont even have to choose which, because they serve a mixed grill thats pure food porn!!! Best poitjie is at mama afrikas on long street, make sure to make reservations. Nice boboti on top of table mountain. Climb it so you earned it!
The CT backpackers also have a sweet deal with one of the big hotels around the corner, the backpackers visitors can use their swimming pool, just dont be a cheap charly and buy a beer or a soda when you go there! I swear, leaving that place hurts like HELL. Thanks to everybody at the backpackers for doing what they do!!!

we found Cape Town Backpackers as the most complementary accommodation for vacation in Cape Town. The best location - in a safe and trendy neighborhood, minutes away from the Long street and down town carnival but with un option for a quiet coffee shop; unbelievable helpful and nice staff; Very welcoming atmosphere; comfortable services (computer, laundry, etc.). we had the best time there. leker su as cracker

Cape Town Backpackers has a nice atmosphere & great (peaceful) location with some good restaurants/bars very close by. It’s a good budget option in an expensive city. We had a double en-suite room that was clean & included linens/towels etc. We liked the period style of the building. The facilities & breakfasts are good. Staff are friendly, laidback & helpful – offering good tours & advice on what to do/where to go.

great location, staff has great character and very helpful, fun bar, good security, decent cleanliness and awesome guests made my stay at Cape Town Backpackers awesome! probably only dent in review would be unreliable (and not free) wifi, but would defnitely recommend it and would love to stay there again in a future visit to Cape Town

Room Tip: i stayed in the 10 bed dorm, which is obviously louder and below the bar, but still had decent sleep...

We are senior travellers, so we stayed in the annexe, just out the back of the main building, away from the bar. It was wonderfully quiet, we had a private ensuite room with a view of Table Mountain. Much better value than a hotel room.
The location was excellent, with a local bus nearby to take you to the waterfront and the city centre. There was also a bus stop nearby for the hop-on, hop-off tourist bus.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. Also, cheap breakfast available every day.
The kitchen in the annexe is not yet working, which meant we had to go to the main building to make tea/coffee and cook. It will be even better when the kitchen in the annexe is working.

Room Tip: if you want peace and quiet, choose the annexe

This was my third stay at Cape Town backpackers. My first was in 2006. I get an ensuite room of my own but the dorms look very nice also. There is a good kitchen. The staff are always helpful and friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. It is well located with good shops and cafes 5 minutes' walk away. The ensuite rooms are getting a bit pricy for one person but it is a friendlier place to stay than a cheap hotel.

We came to cape town 2 weeks ago, unfortunately I've had an accident next to their place but they were very kind and help us, they kept our belongings and later on when we stayed there the helped us to rent a car and to plan out trip, and it really felt that they did it with all the heart.
the private room was comfortable and clean, the shower was big and we had a private patio which was very nice. there are few rest in the area ("simply asia" which is also recommended), we will def recommend about your place , Thank you for everything !
