Owner description: For a memorable and unique Cape Town adventure, nothing can be more exhilarating than a cage diving and surface viewing tour to meet the mighty great white shark. One of the few places in the world where white sharks can be observed regularly at any time of the year, Gansbaai is known as the shark diving capital of the world. The watery habitat of the apex predator is not glamorous and this tour is highly weather dependent - this is mother nature at her most temperamental and raw; only when you see your first flash of steely grey sliding purposefully towards the boat, will you understand the magnetic beauty of the great white shark. Indescribable. No previous diving experience is necessary to enter the cage and everything you will need to fully enjoy the tour is provided, from your meals, to your dive equipment and even the convenient and comfy shuttle that Shark Zone can provide to get you there. As Cape Town's #1 booking agent for great white shark tours, Shark Zone will make sure you get the best deal, hassle-free!

My husband had a shark cage dive booked with another operator in Hermanus who had to cancel due to bad weather in Cape Town. Luckily our hotel manager knew of Shark zone and was able to get my hubby on a trip this morning out of False Bay. Turns out it was a huge blessing In disguise as False Bay has more seals and breaching and he was able to see everything he ever dreamed of and more! Steve from Shark zone picked him up at 5:30 am from our hotel and drove him to Simonstown where boat captain Shaun of Shark Explorers took him out for about 4 hours. 14 people total in the boat plus four crew. Trips out of False Bay cost more even though it is closer than Hermanus because the boats hold fewer people which means more time in the shark cage. The seas were rough and cold but my hubby saw a fully breached shark catching a seal as well as three predations. In the cage he saw two-three great whites around 12 ft- 16 feet in length. He said it was phenomenal and says it was shark week on the Discovery Channel for real! Bucket list item fully checked off and all involved super professional and nice

I recently visited Cape Town and only had a few days there so pre booked a Shark trip with another company. On arrival the weather was terrible and the trip was cancelled. The hotel recommended I contact Shark Zone. These guys were just great, they go from Simon's Town out to Seal Island in False Bay, this is slightly more protected from winter winds than the other areas.

The boat was brand new and was quite small taking only a max of 15 people, so much more personal service. I booked onto the morning trip which is better for viewing than the afternoons, but it dose mean a 5.30 start form Cape Town.

We saw breaches, predation on seals and also on the dummy. There were 3 other boats out but all of the had to return because the weather was quite windy none of the others could hold anchor and so those trips did not get the chance to use the cages. All of our group managed to get time in the cage and we had 3 x 3-5M sharks around the cage for at least an hour.

There were sandwiches, snacks and drinks available.

These guys obviously are passionate about what they do and made every effort to make sure that we got to see what we came for.

(I saw the negative reviews but i am not sure some of the comments are about this company because i don't think that have a big boat taking 30 people, you should check when you book. if the weather is bad then you should assess your own tolerance to being sick, its the sea - it has waves! Also be prepared in low session to not see as many as you expect, if you want a guarantee go to the aquarium.)

Greedy captain will take you to sea no matter the weather conditions. When I had this unfortunate experience, 5 out 9 people (who are too many for the boat, anyway) were sea sick. It was the worst hour and a half of my whole life.

This is totally incorrect:

Our captain whom works for a salary is certainly not a greedy person and his salary does not change if the boat does not go to sea.

I have been involved in this industry for more than 15 years and will NEVER go to sea in adverse sea conditions. Safety is of paramount importance to us and we would never ever risk passengers lives on bad weather days. In fact, we one of the first companies to cancel our trip in advance when the wind and swells reach certain levels.

Another inconsistency in this review is that NO boat only takes 9 people referred to in this feedback. I am not even certain if he is reviewing the right company.

The reviewer refers to motion sickness (or sea sick as stated) over which we have no control.
In fact, we strongly advise all our clients to take motion sickness tablets.

Thanks for the opportunity to respond

Yours faithfully

Stephen and Tracy just blew us away!! They took us to a better place to experience not only a shark dive, but we also got to see a shark fully breach the water. They then took us for a full tour of Cape Point and, unfortunately, a friend wasn't feeling well, so they took us to a doctor and Tracy even went in with her to ensure she was properly taken care of... This is an experience worth having FOR SURE!!!

You cannot come to Cape Town and not contact Shark Zone. This is without a doubt the best and most professional company. From start to finish we were taken care of and felt like celebrities. No where on earth will you ever find a better experience.

If you want to dive with the great whites and experience nature in its most perfect setting. Shark Zone is your company. Not only that they have the greatest respect for nature.

Can't wait to come back and contact Shark Zone again!!!!!
