We had an absolutely lovely stay in Cape Town, a picture postcard setting, at this beautiful boutique hotel tucked in a charming neighborhood near Table Mountain, the city center, and the ocean. The hotel itself was stunning - with luxurious, contemporary rooms and amenities. They also have a unique collection of 70's memorabilia on display - fun to check out. Kevin, the owner, and Desire, the manager, were both superb, welcoming, and friendly, offering us drinks on arrival on the hotel's beautiful patio area and then again at night in their lovely fireplace room. They also served up delicious breakfast buffets each day and offered advice on sights to see and restaurants to try. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to stay!

After reading the other TripAdvisor reviews, I knew the Villa Zest was somewhere I wanted to spend the few days that my four-year-old and I had accompanying my husband to a conference in Cape Town in the middle of winter, which is typically cold and wet; somewhere we could hole up if the weather was awful. However, when I contacted them, Desire, the manager, said that they didn't take children under 12. She recommended other nearby hotels, but then, a few minutes later, came back to me saying that we could stay there if we wished as she thought we'd enjoy it, and it was convenient for the waterfront and the conference centre. How right she was! By email and phone before we arrived in Cape Town, she made us feel welcome, arranged extra bedding for our son (which had to be hired from elsewhere), put us in the largest suite (which was wonderful!) so that there was ample room for all three of us, suggested suitable attractions/excursions and arranged airport transfers. Although the hotel and décor were not designed to be child-friendly (lots of glass and white furnishings and a balcony with a railing that a small child could slip under) the staff went out of their way to make us all welcome, keep an extra eye on Jo, recommend child-friendly restaurants and cater to our every needs. So much so that Jo didn't want to wander far from the hotel and the staff, starting calling it “home” and couldn't wait to get back there to tell everyone what he'd seen and done that day!
Believe the reviews; this place is wonderful! It is located very centrally, within walking distance (even with a child) to the waterfront and lots of great restaurants, and has easy road access to the main attractions in and around Cape Town. My only regret is that because we had such unseasonably lovely weather, we didn't spend enough time “holed up”!

From the time of reservation, staff at Villa Zest could not have been more helpful – our airport transfers were arranged and a response to questions about Cape Town were replied to within hours of asking. From this point forward, I knew that I was dealing with a reputable hotel. The entire process between check-in and check-out was perfect, and our every need was responded to with a welcoming smile.

Throughout the entire stay, we were treated like real people, were constantly been looked after and our requests were met within minutes of raising them. The fact that we were treated like people, rather than simply room numbers of paying customers, is a significant point to make, this is a rarity in the industry at the moment. Desire and her team could not have been more professional, yet so helpful.

The facilities were excellent - even the in-room coffee (usually dull instant coffee) was of a high quality. I found this hotel very well priced considering the high standard of facilities and services provided.

In fact, we had such a pleasurable experience at the Villa Zest, that we would come back to Cape Town simply to stay at this facility again. A truly remarkable experience.

We had a marvelous stay in Cape town at the Villa Zest. Wonderful interiors, very good service, very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a place where you immediately feel at home. It is centrally located at walking distance to the waterfront and easy access to the main attractions on the Cape peninsula. Reasonably priced too for a luxury boutique hotel.

The hotel is excellent for hip fun loving travelers with a modern taste. Service is superb -- General Manager Ruby is a sweetheart. The staff made us feel like family. The second floor living room with french doors and views of the bay is a great place to just hang out and sip tea or wine all day. Also, the place is right next door to some of the best restaurants in town, gay nightlife as well as the new Green Point soccer stadium.

The hotel is located in the central area, 5 minutes Taxi from V&A waterfront. The place is calm and rather green. Kevin and Desire are perfect owners and if you let them to give you suggestions you will find the best way to visit places, eat and drink.
Rooms are small pieces of modern design in between African and minimalist style and breakfast is special.
Everything is very relaxing and I strongly suggest to stay in this place.

I travel regularly in Africa, and without a doubt Villa Zest is a little Gem and one of my favourite places to stay.

The retro decor, friendly service, comfy beds, delightful sun terace /swimming pool all and great location contribute towards a fun, premium boutique experience.
Things to bear in mind a) they do not serve dinner (I am delighted with this as it forces you to get out to the plethora of incredble restaurants nearby. Desire and her staff will happily arrange and advise reservations for you. Breakfast is lovely).
b) if you are sharing a room with someone you might not want to see naked (or more importantly might not want you to see them!), then beware as the showers / baths in some rooms are open plan style - i.e. visible from the room (reassuringly the toilets are perfectly private).

A top place to stay and comes highly recommended
