Other reviewers of this wonderful hotel have stated well, and eloquently, how beautiful the rooms are, the excellent service they enjoyed, the bar and restaurant facllities being way above standard, so I will add another perspective that for a Cape Town visit is important. The location of the hotel, and the security they provide for guests, is paramount, as Cape Town is not a city that affords tourists, or residents, safe evening or after-dark walking or touring. If you are not a South Africa citizen and thus familiar with the "shut down" after dark mindset, it can be unsettling to be stuck in a hotel removed from dining or entertainment choices. Being at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront complex is a HUGE advantage as a tourist, because it appeared to us to be the only area that afforded safe nightime strolling and dining choices. All the local people we met, as well as friends we spoke with before leaving on this trip, advised us that Cape Town is NOT a place to find yourself walking back to your hotel after dinner and a show, forcing people to use taxi's and cars. The One and Only is a lovely property with views toward Table Mt, but to my mind, it's situation in the midst of the bustling waterfront, next to the Aquarium and nearby upscale restaurants and shops, is its' biggest asset.

One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever experienced. The suites are enormous, very well appointed, comfortable yet luxurious and very clean. Beautiful views, great food, lovely spa and pool. Really no reason to leave!

We stayed here for a international congress, so more business than pleasure.
The hotel was great with an impeccable service. Nothing to comment on !
However I would not stay here for pleasure, it is for me too much a business like hotel. Maybe I'm too spoiled.
But defintely worth while and very nice location, close to all the restaurants and shopping district.
