“Beautiful Hotel with great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2010

The One and Only in Cape Town is a beautiful hotel. The staff are great and helpful and service is fantastic. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The pool area and Spa are lovely and the bar has the most speactacular view of Table Mountain. The location is great as it is near to the Waterfront Area and safe to walk from the hotel to there which is really nice.

Very strange that you have to walk through the bar area to get to the pool.

i was here for my honeymoon

one and only by name and by nature

it is a new hotel but we were well looked after- great concierge, beautiful rooms and near the waterfront. location is excellent.

the best thing about it was the high spec rooms

We stayed almost one week begining of March 2010. Location is perfect. I can't say its the best hotel for family with 4 children but still, an excellent kids club and a lot of care for the babies.
Good food, good servie despite small mistakes that management fixed quickly and efficiently.
Couples without children or young couples with a baby will be really charmed.
Good concierge that organized our tours and it was 100% success such as Cape of Good Hope or Wine lands.
We really enjoyed and I'm sure that the management will correct soon some details.

After a wonderfull expoerience at the One&Only in Dubai our expectations to Cape Town were very high; yet they have been surpassed! Excellent hotel with most friendly and professional staff. Our suite was facing the Table Mountain and very spacious with all luxury amenities. Very relaxing pool area with top service, great food at restaurant NOBU.
Defintely a place to come again!

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2010

Beautiful internally and very nice externally this Hotel has great service, incredibly comfortable beds and masses of space in the rooms which were,of course, very well decorated if not very well thought out and there are some really annoying features which the Hotel needs to address immediately.
First, and it's a major bugbear of ours, the doors can not be closed quietly, they literally crash home and we got one of the problem neighbours next to us first night of 5 who went in and out till one o'clock. We moved to a separated Island room which was nice but there were ill fitting blinds in three of the four windows and curtains that were too short, which meant we had those lovely slits of bright Capetown Summer light from dawn onward,It happens elsewhere but not at these prices.
We did intend to eat in the Japanese restaurant on site but encountered the worst aspect of the Hotel. For some reason, despite the clientelle being middle aged plus, the management has seen fit to install a DJ in the bar playing very, very loud Drum and Bass music, this also plays in the Japanese restaurant.I'm sure the young staff must have loved it and probably encouraged the DJ to turn it up but we called it the Neutron Bomb--it left the building standing but got rid of the people. We went in the bar one night at about 9.45 for a drink and it was empty except for the DJ with his headphones on and the v v loud music. We all know these guys, they always have the music turned up,that's what they cater to but to have this in a top Hotel is really unforgivable.
We also do not understand the logic of a Hotel of this calibre having bare tables in its signature restaurant, tablecloths are required!
The pool was nice but an adult only pool is desirable,we were here at half term!
We feel that overall the service and security were excellent but at these prices we want to sleep in a dark bedroom and we want the refined and sophisticated feel of a top Fairmont or Ritz Carlton and for the above reasons these were missing.
The location is good and it's an easy walk to the V+A with all it's restaurants and shops. Two things to mention about these, the shops are way more expensive than elsewhere in the city and the restaurants for the most part have very similar, though not madly expensive, menus.
Capetown gave us no security issues and is breathtakingly beautiful.
