We stayed at Atlantic Affair in July 2013 with a large group of family members (11 in total). We ended up renting roughly half of the rooms including one of the penthouses for our 4 night stay.

Atlantic Affair is a small boutique hotel with perhaps 12 rooms in total in the Seapoint neighborhood in Cape Town. Seapoint has many banks, shops, restaurants and bars within close walking distance and as you may have guessed is directly on the ocean. The hotel itself is 1.5 blocks from the Ocean (which is visible from its penthouse rooms). Within a block of the hotel (and closer) there are several wonderful restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies and banks. You can very easily stay in and around the Seapoint neighborhood on foot or take a very inexpensive cab to the V&A or camps bay for more options. We found the neighborhood to be safe, convenient, cheap and a great base for us to enjoy Cape Town. The hotel provides very secure (but tight) parking in a gated portion behind the building if you are renting a vehicle.

The Hotel:
There is a main front desk that is staffed by one of 3 front desk staff throughout your stay. They can help with room issues, wake up calls, tours and restaurant suggestions. Throughout our stay they were friendly and helpful. Next to main reception is a coffee bar that has wonderful coffee/tea/espresso that you can make yourself, or if the front desk staff are around they will make them for you. There is also a full seating area with TV and a full outdoor seating area. Next to the coffee bar is an honor bar stocked with beer, wine, water, soft drinks and liquor. You can take what you want, write down what you used and be on your way. Each night several of us would relax in the lobby area and outdoor seating with beer and wine from the honor bar. The prices are also very reasonable and during our stay were roughly $1.65 USD for a beer (as a reference) and these prices matched what your room mini bar prices were. As we mentioned above the hotel is very close to everything, has parking and is in a safe part of Cape Town. Wifi is available everywhere in the hotel and is free of charge. As you can see from pictures online the hotel is very modern yet comfortable.

The Rooms:
The majority of our rooms were on floors 1 and 2 where the two bed and single king bedrooms are. These rooms were more than big enough for 2 people and 2 suitcases with a mini-kitchen, mini bar and bathroom with shower. These rooms were very well appointed and all of our guests enjoyed the accommodations. One of our rooms was the penthouse unit which had a full seating area with TV, a huge balcony and a full bath with tub and shower. The only things I would like to see in the penthouse would be a TV in the separate bedroom and patio furniture so we could use the balcony more often. Otherwise the penthouse is a great option if you have a little extra money as they are more spacious.

I would compare the rooms to a very nice 4 star or low 5 star hotel. They were very modern, clean and were in excellent repair. The only downside we all noticed is that being by the sea, in this neighborhood, there are a lot of seagulls in the winter. They could tend to be load at night. I think you will probably get this at any sea side lodging this time of year.

The Staff:
Everyone was really helpful and friendly including the wait staff and night time security staff. No complaints at all as they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nice.

Tips:
If you can afford it the penthouse is much larger and has a huge balcony.

The conversion to USD is super good right now and everything from food, beverage, taxis etc was extraordinarily cheap.

If you have the stomach for it, renting a car is a great way to see the area.

Must see places in Cape Town include Stellenbosch wine region, table mountain, cape drive and if you are up for it a shark cage dive in Simons town or Gansbaii. We used a mix of self drive and tour companies booked through trip advisor.

If you have any questions feel free to message me through trip advisor.

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra cash the penthouse rooms are much larger.

We spent 5 nights at the hotel Rooms were not large however there was enough space for 2 adults. The rooms were fully furnished with all the crockery and cutlery you require as well as a few pots and cooking utensils. The location is ideal, being in sea point its central to both town and the beaches. Rooms are cleaned daily and dishes are washed and cleaned. There is safe parking behind a gate with a security guard at night. The receptionist's are friendly and helpful and we received chocolates and a drink on arrival. No complaints on this one and it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Opt for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor, it has a little balcony.

We stayed at the Atlantic Affair for 5 nights and it was absolutley perfect and I cannot think of one thing I would change about our stay. My girlfriend had been in Cape Town for one month prior to my arrival and the Atlantic Affair was nice enough to allow her to check in early and drop all her luggage prior to meeting me at the airport on the day of our arrival. Our room, #302, was absolutley splendid, much larger than I would have thought, and beautifully decorated. The staff was always helpful with arranging cabs, or offering dining opions, or answering any other questions you might have about the city.

The location of the hotel is great, Seapoint is a great place to be in Cape Town, great restaurants, and very close to all the tourist type places.

This boutique hotel is a little hidden treasure in the not-so-trendy part of SeaPoint (seems to continually be the poorer cousin to GreenPoint, and De Waterkant which is odd as is has great restaurants and cafes and a great atmosphere)...

The hotel is immaculate and well maintained having everything you could want. The decor is contemporary and still has a new feel to it despite my last visit being some years ago. The welcome is exactly that - welcoming and you are accompanied to your room and shown the facilities which include air-con (vitial in summer) and free wifi (nice touch). The towels are of the big and fluffy variety (seem to be somewhat rare these days) and the bed firm with great a plump duvet!

Position-wise it is great for the Atlantic seaboard and all it offers as well as being pretty close to the city bowl.

My only gripes:
- the hairdryer is of the hotel standard that shouts at your hair by making lots of noise rather than actually blow-drying. The property would do well to replace these with proper models as this detracts from an otherwise superlative property
- the wifi (and I must stress that it is free so I can't really complain) is pretty slow

No breakfast on offer, but there are so many restaurants and cafes within walking distance (Primi and Kauai right next door!) that this is not an issue.

Its a great place for a get-away and very private. Highly recommended.

We were fortunate to stay here in March, 1 night and then another 2 nights. We had booked the Penthouse on the top floor and loved the balcony. Views out to Table Bay and were surprised to see whales breeching from our balcony, which was unusual for that time of year.
The hotel is quaint and I felt very private, didn't really see any other guests. Our bed was huge and the facilities in the room were great. It was lovely to receive special goodies, chocolates and wine which was such a nice touch.
Great location and secure parking.
Even though it doesn't have a pool, you only need to walk down to the beach and there is a public pool if need be.
I am hoping to return again, lets hope it is sooner rather than later and I will be chosing to stay here as it is good value and a lovely place.
