“Great Boutique Hotel in Seapoint”
Reviewed 22 August 2013

My wife and I have just returned from a few days in Cape Town for her birthday. What a fantastic boutique hotel we stayed at. From the booking, to our arrival, to the room, the service and everything in between was beyond expectation. Both Natashas were awesome and could not do enough for us - they even upgraded our booking for the night of my wife's birthday to the Pernthouse suite at no charge. Further they went ot of their way to arrange kosher champagne at the hotel's cost. The service that we experienced was unbelievable. The hotel and rooms are exceptionally clean and very well appointed and not to mention great value for money. I our not hesitate to stay there again. Well done to all.

My wife and I were very satisfied with our stay at this great boutique hotel. The reception was very welcoming and offered us a great selection of welcome drinks. The room had modern and sleek furnishings, was spacious, had a large bed and all the appliances needed for a comfortable stay. We really appreciate the thoughtful service offered by the staff on duty (both Natashas and Sandra!) throughout our stay. Our stay was punctuated by an overnight hiking trip at the Cape of Good Hope. Upon our return to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to find a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine to welcome us back. Last but not least, Atlantic Affair is great for tourists like us as it was just minutes away from shops, restaurants and the city sightseeing tour bus route. Highly recommended for couples.

This boutique Hotel suited our every need. We were looking for a hotel that offered a self catering as well as all the required services one would usually get from a **** Hotel.
Our expectations were met beyond. The rooms are elegantly designed and tastefully decorated with high quality linen and to and very large. On arrival we received complimentary wine, water and luxury chocolates. A self serve coffee/tea/beverage bar is available in reception and a mini bar to suit your needs in your room. The free wifi was a definite added bonus and sufficient for all our devices. Parking on site and with security after hours left one feeling comfortable. The hotel is perfectly positioned within walking distance to restaurants, St Johns Piazza small shopping centre, banks and not to mention the main beach road and promenade. We required a late check out and siNce the hotel was quiet they more than accommodated our request. Thank you Natasha and staff. We will Be back!

Room Tip: We chose a superior luxury which was on first floor and suited our needs, next time we will request...

I have checked into many hotels and BnBs before but this one was super special because my check in felt like I was returning home (thank you Natasha and staff!). I had arrived a few hours earlier than the check in time but I was welcomed and offered fresh coffee (see the picture attached).

The room was truly fantastic - everything I expected was there. If you'd like to make coffee/tea or even buy food and cook/re heat there is a microwave and coffee station in the room. The washroom and toiletries were just clean and perfect.

I loved the attention to detail in the room.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from #16 Bus Stop of the Red Bus Hop on Hop Off which is right on the Beach road. So, location wise, this hotel is fantastic.

I stayed here only for a day but really would love to return and I highly recommend it to anyone. I can't even dream of staying at such a place in India for this price.

We stayed at Atlantic Affair in July 2013 with a large group of family members (11 in total). We ended up renting roughly half of the rooms including one of the penthouses for our 4 night stay.

Atlantic Affair is a small boutique hotel with perhaps 12 rooms in total in the Seapoint neighborhood in Cape Town. Seapoint has many banks, shops, restaurants and bars within close walking distance and as you may have guessed is directly on the ocean. The hotel itself is 1.5 blocks from the Ocean (which is visible from its penthouse rooms). Within a block of the hotel (and closer) there are several wonderful restaurants, convenience stores, pharmacies and banks. You can very easily stay in and around the Seapoint neighborhood on foot or take a very inexpensive cab to the V&A or camps bay for more options. We found the neighborhood to be safe, convenient, cheap and a great base for us to enjoy Cape Town. The hotel provides very secure (but tight) parking in a gated portion behind the building if you are renting a vehicle.

The Hotel:
There is a main front desk that is staffed by one of 3 front desk staff throughout your stay. They can help with room issues, wake up calls, tours and restaurant suggestions. Throughout our stay they were friendly and helpful. Next to main reception is a coffee bar that has wonderful coffee/tea/espresso that you can make yourself, or if the front desk staff are around they will make them for you. There is also a full seating area with TV and a full outdoor seating area. Next to the coffee bar is an honor bar stocked with beer, wine, water, soft drinks and liquor. You can take what you want, write down what you used and be on your way. Each night several of us would relax in the lobby area and outdoor seating with beer and wine from the honor bar. The prices are also very reasonable and during our stay were roughly $1.65 USD for a beer (as a reference) and these prices matched what your room mini bar prices were. As we mentioned above the hotel is very close to everything, has parking and is in a safe part of Cape Town. Wifi is available everywhere in the hotel and is free of charge. As you can see from pictures online the hotel is very modern yet comfortable.

The Rooms:
The majority of our rooms were on floors 1 and 2 where the two bed and single king bedrooms are. These rooms were more than big enough for 2 people and 2 suitcases with a mini-kitchen, mini bar and bathroom with shower. These rooms were very well appointed and all of our guests enjoyed the accommodations. One of our rooms was the penthouse unit which had a full seating area with TV, a huge balcony and a full bath with tub and shower. The only things I would like to see in the penthouse would be a TV in the separate bedroom and patio furniture so we could use the balcony more often. Otherwise the penthouse is a great option if you have a little extra money as they are more spacious.

I would compare the rooms to a very nice 4 star or low 5 star hotel. They were very modern, clean and were in excellent repair. The only downside we all noticed is that being by the sea, in this neighborhood, there are a lot of seagulls in the winter. They could tend to be load at night. I think you will probably get this at any sea side lodging this time of year.

The Staff:
Everyone was really helpful and friendly including the wait staff and night time security staff. No complaints at all as they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was nice.

Tips:
If you can afford it the penthouse is much larger and has a huge balcony.

The conversion to USD is super good right now and everything from food, beverage, taxis etc was extraordinarily cheap.

If you have the stomach for it, renting a car is a great way to see the area.

Must see places in Cape Town include Stellenbosch wine region, table mountain, cape drive and if you are up for it a shark cage dive in Simons town or Gansbaii. We used a mix of self drive and tour companies booked through trip advisor.

If you have any questions feel free to message me through trip advisor.

Room Tip: If you can afford the extra cash the penthouse rooms are much larger.

We spent 5 nights at the hotel Rooms were not large however there was enough space for 2 adults. The rooms were fully furnished with all the crockery and cutlery you require as well as a few pots and cooking utensils. The location is ideal, being in sea point its central to both town and the beaches. Rooms are cleaned daily and dishes are washed and cleaned. There is safe parking behind a gate with a security guard at night. The receptionist's are friendly and helpful and we received chocolates and a drink on arrival. No complaints on this one and it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Opt for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor, it has a little balcony.

We stayed at the Atlantic Affair for 5 nights and it was absolutley perfect and I cannot think of one thing I would change about our stay. My girlfriend had been in Cape Town for one month prior to my arrival and the Atlantic Affair was nice enough to allow her to check in early and drop all her luggage prior to meeting me at the airport on the day of our arrival. Our room, #302, was absolutley splendid, much larger than I would have thought, and beautifully decorated. The staff was always helpful with arranging cabs, or offering dining opions, or answering any other questions you might have about the city.

The location of the hotel is great, Seapoint is a great place to be in Cape Town, great restaurants, and very close to all the tourist type places.
