“Beautiful people, fusion decor with live Jazz Thurs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

Fragrant incense, dimmed lighting, beautiful crowd. You know you've arrived at Asoka with the red carpets rolled out. We made it a ladies' night out in town in our little black numbers, and boy - eye candies throughout the room! The dress code is definitely smart & trendy, no drunken frat boys in this classy bar.

Love their live jazz Thursdays, the dance floor warm up with deep house after 10pm. Tip: pop by the back-bar for quick drink orders, the bartenders are 360 friendly and serve up a mean whisky!

“Best place!!! Fab food!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 April 2014 via mobile

We were a lot of people and had an amazing evening here. The cocktails are gorgeous. A definite one to try was the pornstar martini! The food was exceptional, and I really was not expecting this from a little shacky bar like this! The butter curry was lovely, the stuffed chilis was mouth blowing, the beef was awesome too. So many other dishes I can't remember but everything was delish! The vibe from the live band was a hit and kept the place grooving. A definite must for late nite drinks and snacks. Well we made the mains our snacks...

“Inadequate Customer Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014

The waitress serving us had an indifferent attitude throughout the night. The first food item we ordered was brought to our table and then taken back by the waitress to serve another patron. We were told that there was no Duck however people who arrived later in the evening at the table adjacent to us were able to order Duck. Additionally, we wanted to switch out the rice for roti on the Butter chicken curry but the waitress rudely refused with meal costing being the reason. Embarrassingly enough a side order of roti is cheaper than basmati rice. So their refusal does not logically follow the menu cost structure.
With cognizance of these inconveniences, the evening went south when we had the misfortune of meeting the manager. He is an hostile, immature youngster who needs his arrogance pruned. He lacks knowledge of simple customer service etiquette. I cannot fathom why a kid is the manager of this fine place.
I do not expect him to give us any special treatment as I know the pressure that comes with running a restaurant. However, an indifferent attitude is ill-suited in a classy establishment like Asoka.

These complaints maybe considered a storm in a tea cup by management, however when you consider the limited menu and the associated prices such complaints are warranted.

I have always enjoyed the Cape Town food scene and perhaps my experience at Asoka was the exception rather than the norm. However there are many other establishments that I have visited and the reception has always been warm and accommodating.

This was a distasteful experience for my friends and I. Never to be repeated.

“Amazing cocktails and great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

This is a great bar and restaurant. The food is very tasty with a complete mix of cuisines so there is something for everyone. The cocktails are just fantastic, some of the best I've ever had. I would recommend a visit but you have to try the cocktails!!! The staff were pleasant and the decor is very cool ,there is a great atmoshpere at the weekends.
If going for dinner Thurs-Sun book it as its a busy place.

Good ambiance and good menu! Service from staff very very average! Food also very average. Far to dark in the restaurant and you could hardly read the menu!
