“International standard convention facilities”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

The CTICC or Cape Town International Convention Centre is a world class facility that hosts a variety of conventions, seminars and expos. Its location in the CBD is great for tourists and the marketing side.

Attached to the CTICC is the Westin Grand hotel, and it is walking distance to Long Street and the V&A Waterfront.

The highlight of course would be the annual Cape Town Jazz Festival

“Not so tasty”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Good venue for large conferences, spotlessly clean ablution facilities, plenty service staff, good lighting and enough space for easy movement between conference and eating venues. The food was buffet style with a wide variety of different dishes beautifully and artistically presented. The problem was the lack of flavour dish after dish after dish, it was rather weird to have such a wide selection but they all tasted the same - just like "nothing". Great location which is walking distance to the waterfront and also the central business district. My highlight was the leisurely boat ride we took which can be boarded right outside the convention centre for a few bucks. An informative ride which offers pre-recorded historical facts about the city of Cape Town and your boat ride fee includes a set of earphones to listen to the recording. The ticket price covers all rides all day so we got off the boat at the waterfront and got back on the boat to return to the convention centre. Location is very convenient for walking to and from the Cullinan hotel which is directly across the road.

“Top Class”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

I attended the recent WTM Africa there and I would have to say that the convention center is on par with those of other countries that host such big events. Facilities are modern, it is spacious and the random artwork in and around the center is amazing. Ample parking, ample shops for refreshment and lovely kept gardens.

“Good fun but a bit short of Jazz”
Reviewed 13 April 2014

I have done the CTIJF a couple of times. Its always worth the visit. This year - 2014, my highlights were Kyle Shepherd and Bokani Dyer, and the local jazz outfit that was lead by Jimmy Dludlu and co. There was stuff I could not see in a pretty full program. I liked Chris Dave and his band, also not really jazz but very impressive players. They always book some crowd pleasers, often US based pop-jazz or soul-jazz outfits who entertain but left me somewhat wanting. To be fair the crowd is huge (a problem for the over used escalators) and they are not all Jazz fans.
